Saturday

Saturdays are rather quiet around here yet........at least until more people show up so this should be a short entry today.

We can see where they've started to pour some curbs for the new streets.  Doesn't look like much yet but it should start to develop faster now so it shows up on pictures better.

The curb machine is all prepped and ready to continue on Monday.  Sure is a weird looking machine.

You can see the ballfield all leveled and ready.  Soon we'll see the sprinklers and seed in action.

Up at the main pool, Jessie is working away to get it ready for you.  Still perfecting the chemicals and cleaning.

We spied this Great Blue Heron resting in the shade.  His long neck is all tucked in and he's standing on just one leg.  He's probably digesting after a big fish dinner.  Don't worry about running out of fish..........there are plenty in the ponds and they probably need thinning now and then.

Bill and Maureen Edwards at Site 1006 are back for their 4th season.  Bill occasionally sends me some terrific bird photos to share on the blog but he says he's jealous of Kent Evans for the Osprey and the American Avocet photos we posted this past week.

Bill has quite a collection of golf balls he has gathered from his yard over the past four years.

These are just from his yard!  Want to fess up and claim any of them???

And our parting shot for the day...........say Hi to Cathy Cressan on her day off from working at the front desk.  Looks like her dog is taking her for a walk.

You all have a good day now.  I'll be busy cleaning this afternoon......have lots to do before you see my dusty house after a dusty summer monsoon season.

Friday

We found this avid group of "pitchers" over by the horseshoe pits this morning as they labored hard to get the area ready for another season of fun.  I don't think they're having much fun right now though as it looks like hard work for the back and knees.  Must move the sand away from the wooden board so it can be painted to preserve the wood.  I joined this group for a while last season and really enjoyed their camaraderie.  They're a fun friendly group so feel free to join them.  You can always borrow some shoes to get you started.

Look at the shiney shuffleboard courts.  Wow....they just glisten in the sunshine.  There was a crew working on this half of the courts for three or more days.  now they have to start the back courts.

New street lights are installed in the median on Cottonwood and sidewalk construction continues.

Our landscape crews are busy over on the golf course with the reseeding project.  All this fertilizer gets spread manually with a good old fashioned shovel.  The guys are all in good spirits, however, as they always wave a friendly cheerful hello.

What is this weird looking machine??  I don't know its official name, but it extrudes a strip of concrete for the curbing for the new streets.

See Don's video to watch the process.

Over at the pickleball courts, work continues on constructing the fencing.  Every post is measured and level.

The top cap and the base pieces get added.

And voilĂ .....a fence is built.  This fencing has a nice black coating on it which should inhibit rusting.

Wall construction continues.

Looks like they're almost finished with the walkways between courts.  There is a complete drainage system under ground for those occasional times we get precious rain.

I leave you with this special photo for the day.  Nice license plate.

Have a GREAT day!

Thursday

Another beautiful cool morning as we started our daily rounds.  Uh Oh........look at these awesome shoes we met walking down the street!!  Say Good Morning to Pat Mitchell's fancy feet.

Cottonwood is a busy place today as APS is starting to install the new street lights out in the median.

Congratulations to everyone who contributed to the Composting program.  Look at the beautiful rich soil we can use for planting the ballfield.

Light poles and fence posts appear to be done finally.  That was a BIG job to get them all in and perfectly level.  Technological use of the GPS systems proved their worth ten times over.

Wherever we went this morning, we came across the asphalt crews doing patching and sealing on the streets.

It's good to see Doug and Mona Conkle back in the park for another busy season of Activities and Special Events.  Smile Doug!
