Upcoming Storm

A small dust storm swept through Saturday night.  We're trudging through another week of HOT weather so dust devils like this spring up easily.

The big news now is that tropical storm Nora is headed our way from the Pacific SW.  We have flash flood warnings popping up on our phones.  I just checked the radar.

I'd say that Wil Chaney and Demian better hurry before packing up for the day.

Will report again after the storm.

Pavilion Progress

All our recent rain has brought green grass to our desert.  This is the lot right across from the main gate.  The grass/weeds have grown so tall that we can't see the burrowing owls that reside there unless they sit way up on their perch.  I'm happy to report that they're still there as I see them occasionally in the mornings.

With the house all torn up due to flooring installation, we've been having brunch at the Big House restaurant downtown.  BIG house is right as the portions are huge!  Delicious food.  Highly recommend the place.

Their french toast is awesome!

All the oleanders and shrubs have been removed from around the north pool.  It's bound to be easier to keep the pool clean without all the bushes surrounding it.  Will get more photos when the project is finished.

We found another mud dauber nest on a house this week.

This is a beauty as it is nice and fresh.  Kat from Kat's Pest Control mentioned that these nests are usually built up high to be close to the food source.  That food source is spiders.  The daddy longlegs love to gather around doorways.

Found a paper wasp next under a porch this morning.  Haven't seen one of these in years.  They don't produce honey but build similar hives.

Work continues on the new pickleball pavilion.

Have a GREAT day!

Drone over Steakhouse

Yikes!  We decided to get new flooring throughout our little house.  OMG!! What a mess!  We managed to live through the process but it may take a while for the cats to relax once again.

It meant disassembling Don's flight simulator.
Wonder if he'll ever get it all back together again.

We purchased the flooring from Grizzlies Floor Covering here in Casa Grande.  It took a long time for the material to arrive but once it did, we had a great team (Luppa and Paul) to do the installation.  Great work.

Don's computer is out of commission until we get things set up again but he did take the drone up to look at the steakhouse progress.  There is so much machinery and equipment in their yard.  Big crews working on the building.  Without his computer, we couldn't edit the video but managed to get a pretty good look anyway.

Tidbits

We could see a sign posted near the main lake where the dredging process had taken place.

The sign says "Danger.  Do not enter."
If you lose your golf ball in this area, DON'T go after it.  This is where the silt was moved during the dredging process.  If you step in there, you would really sink down and get stuck.

Batten down the clips on your outside electrical boxes.  We've had to remount these on a good number of homes this summer.

Autumn is on the way!  Every fall season, the daddy longleg spiders emerge and build webs on all the doorways around the park.  This year they are really prolific so I carry a nice big swiffer to clear the doorways before entering.

The great blue heron is a familiar site but is always worthy of a photograph.  Beautiful bird!

Just a note for those readers who say they can't access our videos on their phone:  Scroll way down to the bottom and click on "view web version".  Then go back and try to play the video again.  It should work this time.....or you can always go to YouTube, search for Sue Hepler, and view from there.

This is big news for Casa Grande.  It is a beautiful building so will be glad when it opens again in October or November.

Son Anton drew an adorable cartoon for us!!
It's perfect!!

Debris removal

I keep getting occasional questions/comments from readers saying they can't get the videos to open on their cell phones.  If that's the case, just go to YouTube and search for "Sue Hepler".  All of our videos are stored on that page and your browser should be able to open them.

Videos look best, however, on a BIG screen.  Don has this huge TV as the monitor for his flight simulator.  It looks awesome on a big screen like this.

Remember to tap the space bar to stop the film so you can study the screen better.

Last night was our monthly catered dinner.  This time we got fajitas (choice of chicken or beef) with all the trimmings.  Nice and tasty.

Dine in was available with about four full tables occupied.  The rest of us chose take out to eat at home.

Site 1288 was the target of an extra roof in this week's storm.

They were lucky to find Wil Chaney and Demian available to scoop up the debris.

They first had to disassemble part of the roof.

Very carefully, they managed to get it all down.

Here is a video of the work.  It was amazing to watch.

After the metal was all cut up, they loaded it on the truck and hauled it away.

Job is done.

I can't say enough good things about Wil and the quality of his work.  They have done so much construction around the park!  He usually has a long waiting list of projects to complete.  Soon he will be working on the new pavilion at the pickleball courts.

Mouse loves to climb into tight spaces....especially inside our TV stand.

After he manages to climb in, he can drop down behind into the cupboard below.  Here you can just see his little eyes and white nose peering out at us.

Then he somehow manages to squeeze his way out of there.
I think his bones must be made of rubber.
