Clarificaiton of Pool Rules

Good news!!  Our park pools are NOT closed.  Scott sent out further clarification of the Governor's message this morning:

After re-reading the declaration and receiving additional clarification/interpretation:  The pools are not limited to 10 people.  The declaration states as a private pool we need to provide signage that reminds people to maintain physical distance and that groups larger than 10 should not congregate.  If we are following the 6’ social distancing guideline, it is impossible to be considered congregating.  An example of congregating would be 10 or more people sitting side by side around a table or crowded around a fire pit.  Having 10 or 20 people socially distanced properly in the pool doing aerobics would not be considered congregating.

Playing volleyball is also fine as long as we can maintain social distancing.  As long as we can maintain proper social distancing we are good.  The declaration did not state only 10 people are allowed at a time.  In a nutshell, maintain proper social distancing and we are in compliance.  Let me know if you have any other questions.  Signage has been placed at the pools to reflect this as well.

More Closures & Dominos Fire

Unfortunately, Arizona is still one of the Covid hotspots in the country.  Our Governor gave another order yesterday and as a result, it affects us here too.

From Scott Houle:

To ensure we adhere to the governors latest declaration we will have to close our fitness center for a month beginning at 8pm this evening.  We will also have to  limit our pools to no groups over 10 people.

Big fire at Dominos Pizza on Florence Boulevard.  Bravo to our heroic fire department.  It's fascinating to watch the video!!  Click on the link below:

WATER SHUT OFF FRIDAY, Camera shots & repair story

Water will be shut off park wide Friday, June 26th from 6:30 am – 10:30 am for repair.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

Another early morning as we do our rounds.  Love to watch the sunrise.

Interesting camera opportunities.
Got a good picture of a grasshopper.  Google Lens says it is a pallid-winged grasshopper.  Fun fact:  The behavior of the pallid-winged grasshopper is apparently determined by temperature with foraging occurring at temps of 75-90 and mating at 86-104.  With our current HOT weather, I figure these little critters are in their glory these days.  LOL  😉

Bev Carte captured a good picture of a road runner.
Thanks, Bev!

Dora Rocha hard at work washing the signs and statues throughout the park.
Dora and her crew do an excellent job of keeping our resort looking its best.

**PERSONAL NOTE:  I must tell you an amazing story Don and I experienced yesterday.

Our Samsung refrigerator (8 years old) sprung a leak.  Water trickled down the back of the unit causing an ice build up in the bottom of the freezer.  We called a couple appliance repair (including our favorite:  Jeff's Appliance Repair) but they weren't doing any non-essential repairs due to Covis.  So we managed to live with the ice until the bottom drawer would no longer open.  We started shopping (on line) for a new refrigerator.

I pulled out the paperwork from our original purchase.  We bought it at the old Sears store when it was still here in town.  There was a big ad for maintenance so out of desperation & curiosity, we tried contacting their website.  Lo and Behold:  A big service site opened.  We just clicked on the refrigerator icon, entered the repair needed from their list, clicked the first available date, and a reply came in saying someone would be here that very same afternoon!!

Sure enough, a gent showed up at the door, took one look at the machine, diagnosed what was wrong, gave us a repair price, did the work, and was gone in about an hour.  AWESOME!!  Based on what we experienced, I can recommend going to that site for any kind of service repair.  He also offered an appliance insurance contract which we declined, but it sounded like an okay offer.

We also enjoyed visiting with the tech.  His name is Mirsad.  He is originally from Bosnia and has been doing appliance repair his entire life.  Very interesting and friendly person.  I'm going to write to Sears Corporate and tell them how pleased we are with their surprisingly wonderful customer service.

P.S.  Repair price was $333.61 which seemed very fair considering Mirsad had to drive over an hour to get to Casa Grande.  It sure beats the price of a new machine!

Do you suppose someone named Kat is waiting for me to come out of the bathroom??

New Scooter, Landscaping, APS

It's another beautiful blue clear Arizona sky.
Must enjoy these mornings while we're in the mid 70s ... before the triple digits arrive at noon.

We're up by 4:30 each day to watch the sunrise.

Landscape crews are out early trimming, trimming, trimming.
All palm tree trimming has been contracted out to an outside vendor this year.  That's trimming, cleanup, and hauled away!  Our Palm Creek equipment can't handle the challenge anymore.

Contracted street sweepers are on duty as well keeping our park looking fresh.

APS is here to install the light pole that blew over in our last wind storm.

Ta daaaa.......all done in less than an hour.

Aha!!  Talk about boys and their toys!
Scott Houle has a new scooter that he will use to cruise the park.

The new Palm Creek logo appears on the front fender.

Our new name and logo.

Scott can even change the under light color with an app on his phone.

Maybe  I should get one of these as I see it comes with a side car to accommodate my cats. 😉

Speaking of cats......I was preparing this bag to use as a gift to a friend.  Silly me let it sit out on my bed.  Guess I'd better find another bag.

Paint, water main break,

Cottonwood Pool area newly painted.

North gate house

North pool

Oh no!  Another troublesome water main break.
What a headache for our maintenance team.

This area is obviously a trouble spot.  We've had a major break near here before.  Sept 15, 2017.  That's when we had Fernando at the wheel and Faustino with a shovel.

Covid Update:
Unfortunately, Casa Grande has had a big increase in the number of virus cases reported this past week.  Mayor McFarland just put out a press release asking everyone to wear a mask when out in public as he doesn't want to have to close up our businesses again.  So.......wear your mask!

POOL CLOSURE, Area news

The main pool needs to be closed and off limits tomorrow, Thursday, June 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm, due to painting activities in the area.
************

Reminder to fellow summer desert rats that we get to try Virtual Bingo tomorrow.  1:00 June 18.  Pick up your cards at the concierge desk in the main lobby.  The broadcast will be done through the Palm Creek Facebook page.  Should be interesting to see how it works.  Something to help keep us entertained this summer.

News from the RC Flyers group:

Francisco Grande hotel is planning to make a big expansion near the hotel.  Let's just wait and see before we get excited.  Lots of flood plain issues to be resolved first.

Palm tree trimming is underway.  Red area was done first.
Green is next.

Don and I experimented this week with our first on line order at Frys for grocery pick up.  I was really impressed with the Frys website as they have kept track of EVERYTHING we've ever purchased at the store.  We just scrolled through the list and clicked on what we wanted.  Then we selected when we wanted to pick up our order.  When confirmed, you just park in a numbered slot in their parking lot, dial the phone number posted on a sign there, and a masked and gloved employee brings the items to the car.  Slick!  If they are out of stock on an item, they send an email with a suggested substitute for approval.  Really enjoyed the experience.  AND....the best part is that we didn't have to haul the groceries out to the car in our 107 degree heat.

Now for the best part of shopping this way:

They package the groceries in old-fashioned paper bags!

Mouse LOVES them!!

And he's exhausted after an afternoon of chasing toys into the bags.
