Fish Cancellation + Food Drive Results

Uh Oh...........our scheduled fish dinner for tomorrow night (January 29) has been cancelled.  If you have a ticket, it may be exchanged in Activities for a future February fish fry or will be refunded.

Here's a note from Jan Masselink regarding the recent food drive.  Awesome results!!

A big “Thank You” to all those who left food at their curb, brought food to our trucks, or donated money to our Palm Creek Chapel Food Drive last week.  Because of you we were able to fill six trucks full of groceries and deliver them to the Casa Grande Food Bank.  This was twice as much as we have ever collected before.  We are also please to tell you that we collected just over $5,000 to help the Food Bank purchase fresh food for those in our neighborhood who are in need during these tough times.  Thank you for being a blessing to others.

From Bonnie Sewell.  Notice the injured back leg of the poor animal.  I hope he catches a duck or two.  We can certainly spare them.

Here's a reminder about the Palm Creek Chapel Food Drive on Wednesday, January 20.

I had to refill the jug of catfood.  Obviously it must taste better from the jug instead of their bowl.

Food Drive, Casa Grande News

Our Palm Creek Chapel is getting ready for their annual food drive.

The city has approved an Auto Mall to build on the old Sam's Club site.

Progress on that hotel.  It is very slowly coming to completion.  At least some of the scaffolding is being taken down.  The Texas Roadhouse will be right alongside this hotel.....someday.

New Restaurants coming to town.

There was a big article in our local Dispatch announcing that the "no texting while driving" law will now be enforced with fines.  Beware.

A new race track is coming to town for all you car enthusiasts.

Coyotes, Activities for Cancer Awareness, Surprises for the Cats

Received these coyote photos from Robert Wyss this morning.  He says he took these on the 15th hole yesterday (January 7).  Awesome photos!!  All the gated communities around here probably share the space with wildlife these days due to our parched dry desert.  What a paradise we offer these animals with the abundance of food and water and lush green grass.  We certainly won't miss a few ducks or feral cats.  The park will try to block the drainage vents under the wall........but these coyotes can easily jump over any of the walls that surround us.  I have friends in Sun City that tell stories about that on a regular basis.

They've obviously been eating well as they look nice and healthy.

Mouse is safe.  He's indoors playing with the newest box that arrived from Amazon.

***********************

We have a few more activities appearing on the daily calendar now that more people are arriving.  We still like to play.

Big announcement today regarding the annual Cancer Awareness Week.

All these fund raising activities sound like fun!  Congrats to Marion and her staff for the creative ideas.

This year, more than any other year, I will be participating and supporting the cancer awareness events.  I'm so grateful to our local Alliance Cancer Center for the wonderful service they perform right here in Casa Grande.  I can carry a sign that says "Survivor of 4 whole months already."
 (Seems like an eternity!)

Please participate.  Funds stay here in Casa Grande.

*************************************

I have a fun cute story to tell this afternoon.  It started with an Amazon delivery we weren't expecting.

What is it??

Look.  It's in a neat wrapped package.  What could it be?

Kat came running over to help me open it.

No wonder he's so interested.  It is one of those crazy floppy fish toys for cats.  It just lays there till the cat touches it and then it flops around while they attack it.

Very popular.

It must smell good to them because they kept rubbing against it while we unpacked.

Don and I have both looked at the ads for this particular toy.  We laugh and say we've spent enough money on cat toys so never made the purchase.  Lo and behold....we received this as a surprise gift today from Brian and Patti Illston.  THANK YOU!!  Your gift made our day!!

Of course we'll have to pick up the fish and hide it at bedtime if we want to get a good night's sleep.  LOL

Weather, early video

I just asked Siri for the 10 day weather forecast.  Wow!  It looks about perfect as far as I'm concerned.  Lots of warm sunshine and cool nights.

Still no planned events due to Covid restrictions but lots of outdoor activities to keep folks occupied.  Lawn bowling is popular.

Softball games every Tuesday and Thursday.

Water volleyball

AND.....Robin Perry and crew are serving more take home meals.  We had lasagna last night.  Delicious!  We really enjoy these dinners.

Kathy Payne hard at work weeding flower beds during her spare time as doggie warden.

Thought you might enjoy this video of the north area in the beginning.
Just a quick glance.

Lake Video

We must be having pump troubles again at the north lake by the 13th fairway as the water level is really low.  Thought we'd take up the drone to take a look at it.  The drone was flying into the sun so the picture quality isn't the best.

Not much else to write about.
Mouse still loves his new tunnel.

It even has a little viewing window.
Thank you to Bill & Liz Tooley for the Amazon gift card.  We obviously spent it on the cats.  What a surprise?

Mouse gets bored when I sit and play poker too long.  He fell sound asleep on the keyboard.

Ann Merriman found this cartoon on the front page of her newspaper.  Changed it to Palm Creek and sent it our way.  Thought I'd post it for all our Canadian friends.

Bob and Pam Radcliffe sent this our way:
