Quilts of Valor

Our Palm Creek devoted sisterhood of quilters and sewers have been hard at work.
This week they paid tribute to more of our veterans by donating beautiful Quilts of Valor.

Bob Nale and his wife, Sharon with Maureen Edwards as he received his Quilt of Valor(QOV).  Bob was the winner of the QOV raffle at the Palm Creek Quilt show.  Bob served in the Army as a cook from 1967-1970.  He was stationed in Korea.

Bob Nigg and his wife Sue with Maureen Edwards receiving a QOV.  Bob was in the Army from 1959-62. He was stationed in Germany and served as an Artillery Tourette mechanic in the 83rd.
(Also pictured is Diane Gough  who made the quilt.)

Dave Stevens with his wife Darlene and Maureen Edwards as he is presented with a QOV.  Dave was a radar advisor in the Air Force and was stationed in Korea.

Bistro is OPEN

We're so happy to have the new Bistro here with indoor seating.  Very nice!  I copied the menu to post here.

The line at the register would go a lot faster if people would make up their mind before they get in line.  😃  I felt sorry for the poor gals at the register as they had to ask every customer the same questions and then wait will they mulled over their options (and sometimes changed their mind 2-3 times.)  I'm NOT complaining.....just laughing and commenting on what I observed.

If you order a salad:

  • What kind of salad?
  • What kind of dressing?
  • Want to make it a combo?
  • What flavor of chips do you want?
  • What do you want to drink?
If you order a sandwich:
  • Choice of bread
  • Select a deli meat
  • Cheese?
  • Lettuce, tomato, red onions, pickles??
  • Condiments:  Mustard, mayo, aioli, horseradish sauce
  • Want to make it a combo?
  • Again....what flavor of beverage?
  • What kind of chips?
  • Want a side salad?
  • Then what kind of dressing?
In other words...........plan ahead so when you get to the head of the line, you've made up your mind.

Don and I curled up for an afternoon siesta.  I had a nice warm furry blanket.

Quilt Show & Woodworking Show

Today many of our Palm Creek crafters and artists displayed their talents!

Woodworking Show

I thought this was quite clever!

From the Quilting Show:

Quilts of Valor for our Veterans

Dolores was there to provide piano music.

So much of their work is truly a "labor of love".

While out on a bike ride to enjoy the beautiful weather this afternoon, I spotted this cute display.  Looks like the flamingos were busy while they were here.

Bistro

The fires were roaring at Monday morning coffee to keep us warm while we dined on hot coffee and a fresh doughnut.  We gather to hear a run down of all the events that will occur during the week plus any announcements or updates.

Looks like the Bistro is almost ready.  Should be open for business in another week or so.  The dining room has been decorated and looks nice.  I took a few pictures through the window.

The kitchen area is still under construction but I can see the new pizza oven in place.

Furniture and wall decor has been added to the foyer of the ballroom.  Looks great.

Pottery Show

Yes, I have been negligent with my postings lately but it is truly because I'm having so much fun at all the activities around here.  This morning I took time out to visit the pottery show.  I was most impressed with the way the potters have cleaned and decorated the pottery room to put everything on display!  It must have taken a lot of work to make the rooms look so nice.  Congratulations to one and all who were involved.

Sure hope I win some of the nice projects that were being raffled.

Many people tell me they mostly miss pictures of the cats.

Kat is still here and loves to keep me company while I work.  It would be most helpful if he didn't insist on leaning on the keyboard though.

They are sweet and adorable and have become very good friends.

Always looking for mischief however.  They love it when we shop at Amazon because it means new boxes!

Here's what I found when I came home from the pottery show this morning.  Chairs and objects on the floor.  It must have been race time.

I must hurry up to the card room now so farewell till the next post.

Have a GREAT day!

Drone Videos

The big blue harvest moon came up over the horizon.  Big and beautiful.

We sent the drone up over the north 40 to check on progress.  Many BIG trucks out there these days as they install curbs and pave the roads.  Even started landscaping along the walking trail.

Don was the guest speaker at our computer club on Wednesday.  Folks were anxious to learn more about flying a drone so Don was happy to explain how he got started and what the machine is capable of doing.

He even demonstrated by flying around the room.

Later we stopped at the kitchen for the Wednesday lunch.

Dolores and Larry were there to entertain us while we dined.

DELICIOUS sliders and curly fries!!!

It was a busy day and I noticed that every one of the shuffle board courts was busy and occupied.

Even these eager beavers were up in the early morn to get their trucks washed.

Of course Don had to practice his presentation at home before heading to the computer club.  Kat and Mouse weren't exactly thrilled.
