Another storm plus drone footage

New construction is starting just west of the Dutch Brothers coffee shop.  City Planning office says it will be a Quicktrip gas station.  Wow.  Seems to be a lot of gas stations in a concentrated area there.

We had a dandy storm again last night with wind speeds up to 45 mph.  Total rainfall was 1.14 inches.  A whole inch of rain at once is a LOT for our desert.  It really came sideways straight from the east.

We haven't been able to get out yet due to more morning drizzle and rain but I managed to visit Site 1769 on Coyote.  Lynne Rogers called me last night to report that they lost the back patio roof.  Kent will have some clean up chores as soon as it stops raining.

The entire roof landed neatly across the street on top of 1288 (home of Darryl and Kathy Stephison).  We don't see any damage to their home other than the debris.  It will be interesting to see how they remove all that metal.

About 8:00 we were finally able to drive around and look for damages.  Luckily, 1769 is the only one.  Since we have lost our roof in the past, we chided with Kent and told him it was rather exciting as you get to meet a lot of new people as they pass by.

This is the first year we've seen so many cactus plants fall down.  It's probably because of so much rain they soak up and get heavy.

The streets and golf course get littered with tree debris and palm bark.  The landscape crew were already out to clean up the aftermath.

Since we only see the street side of the houses, Don decided to send up the drone to check the back side as well.  Good idea!  As the drone goes over your home, you can click the space bar to pause the video.

It's so cool how he can steer the drone from the comfort of a chair at home and observe the travel on the screen as it moves along.
