It was our first haboob of the monsoon season.  What a wonderful rain!  The rain was preceded by some dusty clouds, beautiful rolling thunder, streaks of lightning, and of course some wind.....but all was in moderation making it very welcomed to our dry arid desert.  Maricopa and Phoenix were hit by a huge wall of dust but ours was thankfully minimal.

 

 

 

 

As we were entering the ballroom for our July 4 celebration, Gladice DeBonville made the comment "In Washington we all scurry outside, point to the sky, and say ....Look!  The sun is shining!.  Here in Arizona, we all hurry out to watch the rain."  She is certainly correct as so many people at the luncheon talked about sitting outside to enjoy watching the storm yesterday.

 

 

 

Thank you to our hard working staff and volunteers for a delightful luncheon of good old American hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, AND apple pie with ice cream.  Yum!!
