Welcome to the merry month of January when our winter visitors arrive in flocks. That's how snowbirds travel, right? I sat at the card table with friends in the Adobe Room and we kept commenting on the steady stream of rigs coming in.
Again, we need to extend a special thank you to our host and hostess teams who staff the welcome table and greet all our incoming guests. They perform a valuable service that we have all experienced and appreciate. We send a special salute to Myron and Ricki Persing who serve as captains for the welcome team of volunteers. Oh yes..........and thanks also to our devoted rangers who help park all these rigs and get folks settled into their site. As Tiny Tim would say, "Bless you each and everyone!"
I don't have a photo of the front lobby when it was packed, but I could see that we had to set up the "Disney" ropes to form lines for registration. I hope everyone has patience with the staff while they go through the myriad of details to get people registered. I heard that the park was even offering coffee and donuts to the folks waiting in line. Nice touch.
I suppose we shouldn't really complain about our recent cold snap of winter temperatures because the rest of the country gets hit a lot harder.....but our warm patio fire pits are truly appreciated.
I really enjoy the Monday morning coffee sessions on the Bistro patio. Marion Nelson from Special Events does a nice job of saying good morning and updating us on the upcoming events. She then introduces a sponsor for the morning.....be it a local dentist or other professional service. Thank you to Marion and the staff for this new event.
Tickets are free but you must pick up tickets in advance from the Activities office so staff knows how many donuts to purchase. This is another opportunity to meet new friends.
I've recently met several new people who haven't heard of my blog yet. Between this blog and the Nextdoor neighborhood site, these are the fastest ways to communicate to our residents so spread the word.

Who
Says Men Don't Remember?
A couple were Christmas
shopping. The shopping center was packed and as the wife walked through one of
the malls she was surprised when she looked around to find that her husband was
nowhere to be seen.
She was quite upset
because they had a lot to do and she became so worried that she called him on
her mobile phone to ask him where he was.
In a quiet voice he
said, "Do you remember the jewelers we went into about five years ago where you
fell in love with that diamond necklace that we couldn't afford, and I told you
that I would get it for you one day?"
The wife choked up and
started to cry and said, "Yes, I do remember that shop."
