To all Palm Creek Clubs & Bloggers

Good Morning Everyone!

I just spent the last hour with my morning cup of coffee as I toured through all the blogs and websites of the Palm Creek clubs and organizations.  I haven't visited all those sites in quite a while so was very impressed with the progress of each group.

Reading about all the activities and projects our residents share is amazing.  We have so many talented people here!!!

Take time to cruise through each blog and website to view the projects and events of each group.

**Note to the bloggers/authors:  Add a gadget to your blog where readers can enter their email address and receive a notice each time your group posts.  It's a great tool to keep your readers informed.   (Example at the top of this blog)

If I can help anyone get started with a blog for a club or activity, let me know and I'll try to help.

Freedom Festival

We celebrated Veterans Day in grand style today.  The staff were busy beavers as everything was set up in the early morning.  This catering truck was an awesome display for the red white & blue event.

Typical grand decorating by our special events crew.

A great commemorative display at center stage.

Please zoom in on this sign which was displayed on the table for our fallen soldiers.

The set up alone makes us proud.

Weather was perfect for the day!  Yes, the food line was long but we met new friends along the way.

The catering crew was working at full speed.

Such fun to see familiar faces and meet newcomers.

Our Palm Creek veterans were called to center stage as a token of appreciation from all of us.

Hi Joni.  Our media coordinator was present with camera in hand.

We heard from the national pickleball association and the VP of Sun Communities.

We received a nice plaque from the National Pickleball Association.
Lisa Harold, our Palm Creek General Manager
Donna Christiansen, our Palm Creek Pickleball President

A great time was had by all.

Craft Fair

Every Monday lunch is served on the Bistro patio.  Come get a hamburger, hotdog, chili dog, chicken sandwich, bowl of soup.........join us.

Some of the poker players will be gathering for lunch and casual conversation while we enjoy the menu.

For entertainment, we can watch the water volleyball players.

The second Tuesday of each month is our craft fair.  It was packed up there this morning.  Lots of fun to see everyone and explore what the vendors bring to us this year.

You MUST stop at this booth for the Loving Hands, Loving Meals group.  This group of very dedicated people bake the most wonderful goodies and make handcrafted items for sale.  All proceeds go to support the local Cancer Support Center on Henness Road where many folks go for their chemo treatments.  They serve nutritious meals and treats for patients there......and deliver meals to Palm Creek patients as well.

Three cheers for the kitchen staff as they keep everyone fed throughout the day.

Thank you to Dwayne Meister for staffing the grill.

I don't know how this Wonder Woman manages it, but Marilyn Goeken is in charge of the kitchen and food venues.  Can you imagine trying to order all the supplies, schedule the staff, do the budgeting, etc. for such a huge job??  We salute you, Marilyn.

In addition to our busy normal schedule, there are special events and parties, pickleball tournaments, sports grill, Monday patio lunch, and the bistro.  Wow!!!

Monday Chat

Whoops.........I had one more photo I meant to post with the RC airplane guys.

I really enjoyed our conversation with them last week and I certainly admire their toys.  Go out there early some Wednesday morning to watch the group at play.

Anyone having trouble with the internet connection recently?  Remember to write out a work order by the concierge desk in the front lobby and drop it in the "work order box" located there.  Gary Lambert needs to know when we're having connection problems so he can identify the source of the problem.  If no one complains that the connection is broken, he can't do much to fix it.

Thank you to Lisa and Sun Communities for getting a new concrete base and special covering for the batters box on the softball field.  The players are very appreciative so spent their day doing the completion around the new base.  Duh........I didn't even know there was a base under a batter's box until JD explained it to me.

Games will start this month so watch for the schedule and come cheer for our teams.  It's GREAT FUN!  .............and you can get a yummy burger or sandwich at the Sports Grill.

I've seen Vicki Vaughn walking a couple different dogs this week so stopped her for a chat.  You might recognize Vicki as she also works security at the front gate and was a pet ambassador last season.  Vicki loves the animals so is doing puppy sitting, etc. in her spare time.  I know that many folks are occasionally looking for someone to watch their pets or at least take the dogs for a walk on occasion.  You can reach her at Site 951.

If any other readers are willing to do doggie day care (or kitty care)......send me an email and I will list your name here as there is a definite need for this kind of service.

What was that big party in the Santan Room on Sunday afternoon????  It was a BIG 25th anniversary party for Doug and Mona Conkle.

Lots of food, dancing, and karaoke.  Congratulations to a very happy couple.

WELCOME BACK EVENT

Our big annual welcome back party has a little twist this year.  It will be held this Wednesday, November 11, to coincide with Veterans Day and is being called the Freedom Festival.  There is still time to get your tickets and tickets are important as this is a catered event and the park is hoping to sell out to meet the expense.  You can't beat the price as for $5 you get a sandwich, chips, drink, AND an ice cream for dessert!
HURRY!!!!!

RENTALS

Did you know the resort now has 58 rental houses available plus 26 brokered homes for rent?  January through March is the peak season so rentals are usually for a three month period but during non-peak, you can rent for shorter terms.  Having family members come for a few days??  How convenient to have them stay here in the park instead of a hotel!    Talk to Tami Keen in the rental office (extension 8933)  for more details.

POTS OF PETALS

Watch your mailbox for a flyer announcing the revised "Pots of Petals" program that may be available this year.

All 32 Courts Occupied

What a difference to see sudden green grass and so many trees and shrubs.  Crews were out cleaning up all the areas this morning, raking, clearing, sprucing it up.

It will have to be quite impressive for the rental folks who come here and see all this done so nicely and have a brand new house to move into.

All 32 pickleball courts were occupied this morning!!  This is obviously a VERY popular sport.  Seeing all of this...........it's hard to remember that it started out with just four converted tennis courts.

Quite a few more trees and shrubs waiting to put their roots into the ground.

Nice painted stripes on the new parking sites.  ATVs are also popular so this new parking area is a wise idea.  It makes easy in and out access for their frequent rides.

The RV storage parking looks almost full.

We could see the remote control airplanes active this morning so stopped out to say hello.  Some of these planes are obviously more than just a toy.

We met Ron Penner and some of the other flyers.

Ron can actually control his plane so it stands still in mid-air.  Awesome to watch.

Later we spied this pickup truck loaded with four beautiful dogs.

Fernando introduced us to the owner.  He is here to inspect the pool as he is the owner of Aqua Flow.  His dogs frequently travel in the truck with him.

Super friendly and lovable pups.  I wanted to take them home with me.

As we drove around the park, we kept meeting up with Ron Myers and his wife, Coleen as they were out for their morning walk.  Don finally snapped their photo to show to the folks back home.

Fresh new sod is being installed at the south pavilion doggie run.

Shuffleboard folks were just finishing up and checking the scores as we drove past. They're a friendly group and enjoy having new players.
