Before and After

We found this interesting:

Typical Work Day

I like to keep posting photos of all the work that continues here on a daily basis.  So many details to track and so much planning to do.  Overseeing all of this is a monumental task with over 300 acres and over 2000 sites plus all the buildings and facilities.

We saw a maintenance cart with two hard-working young men out pulling weeds and picking up tree debris.

Then later the weed spray vehicles were out spraying the green pre-emergent stuff to keep the weeds down.

Our maintenance department also has been replacing water lines and valves at several sites around the park.

A new air conditioner was installed over Building C.

Scott was busy replacing a light fixture by the Admin building.

Work safely up there, Scott.  :)

Speaking of water valves.  This is a great way for some of you home owners to fix that troublesome tiny plastic handle that frequently gets broken on your inside water shut off valve.  Should be an easy fix and will make shut off a lot easier.

Weed control is almost impossible....even when you install artificial turf.  I carry gloves with us on our morning rounds and try to pull the big weeds in front of houses to do our share in keeping the park looking beautiful.

This corner looks empty now that all the flowers are gone.
They just don't last through the hot summer.

Lots of work but plenty of time to play.  Thank you to Amazing Dental for another free movie.  More than 100 creekers attended the  showing of "A Dog's Journey".

Cat is the jumper in our family.  He frequently perches up here to get away from Mouse and his never ending antics.  Maybe I can train him to dust while he's up there??

Drone Flight West Side of Palm Creek

We've always focused on the "north 40" for all the new construction and houses so today the drone flew over the west side of the park.  What else would you like to see?  Comments?  Suggestions??

Did you know that when watching a video on most computers, you simply tap the space bar to stop the video so you can take a screen shot or picture of the screen.    It's a great way to get an overhead photo of your home.

It's not as easy as it looks to capture this footage.  It takes a lot of study and setting up to be ready.....and the weather has to cooperate.

Of course, Mouse is there to supervise.

New from Dish

Gary Lambert received this good news from Dish and asked me to help circulate the info.

Great News! DISH can now take calls at their 800 numbers from Canadian phone numbers. Many of our residents will have a much easier time communicating with Dish from now on.

Recipe for corn/pasta casserole

Our pot luck dinner tonight was fantastic as always with such good foods being provided from our residents.  Every now and then, one dish gets a lot of votes.

Sue Logeman had so many requests for her recipe that I was asked to post it here.  Anyone else care to share a recipe??

I'll call this a corn/pasta casserole.  It was delicious!!

1 can white kernel corn drained
    1 can cream style corn
1 cup spaghetti or angel hair broken in pieces, raw
    3/4 cup oleo melted
    1 cup grated cheddar cheese
onion (optional) I put some in it
     salt & pepper to taste

I doubled the recipe for the 9x12 pan

      Bake 1 hr. at 300.

Memorial Day

There was an 88 man  person jump scheduled for this morning at the Eloy airport so we went out to watch the action.  (Must say "person" since there were quite a few women too.)

We couldn't see their actual formation in the sky because they were up so high but it was fun watching them come streaming down for a nice landing at the end.

Prior to the jump, we watched them practice their routine.  Here is the pattern they were going to attempt.

In the afternoon, we celebrated Memorial Day with a big pot luck dinner in the ballroom.  Mike Kersch gave a talk about the meaning of the event and Joy Miller described the meaning behind the table set for those missing in action.

There were some colorful characters in attendance.

But these two gents should have won an award for their colors.

Gym Flader and Jim Reese
Dressed in flag colors right down to their shoes.

While there was laughter and friendship.....there was also a moment of silence to remember those who served.

New Rule for the Greenbelt

In order to protect the grass along the greenbelt area, new signs have been installed prohibiting pets to cross through that pathway.

New Cottonwood Pool is Opening

YAHOO!!  The new Cottonwood Pool is scheduled to open tomorrow (Saturday, May 25) to help us celebrate the Memorial Day weekend.

The pool and the restrooms will be open but the building and kitchen facilities will be locked.  The building will be used by reservation only through Activities.

Enjoy!!

The flowers that were

It's a shame these blossoms only last for one day!

Take a look at "the morning after".

Drone over the north 40

Drone video over the north 40.

Flowers, more flowers, a dove, and SNOW

It is too bad that all these beautiful cacti bloom when their owners are away.  Pictures just don't do them justice.

The golf course is still looking good.
We stopped and pondered about the high maintenance to keep these irrigation lines working.

Remember all the underground systems we have to maintain.

Awww....this baby dove was probably inside his egg just a few days ago.  His Mom probably parked him there and said to STAY till she returned.  The baby never budged when we walked right past him.

Yup.  Still have my cats.

I keep bragging about our fantastic weather this whole month of May.  I receive email photos from readers who aren't as fortunate and would like to return to our sunshine.

Dave & Kathy Porterfield

The scene is pretty..........but I won't trade it for our sunshine.

**NOTE:  No need to call your house watch person and ask why your electric bill is so low.  AC hasn't been turned on at all this month.  Enjoy it while we can!
