Thursday

Looks like the concrete intersections are about done out in the construction area which brings us another step closer to getting the gravel layer for the new roads.

Work continues at Palm Park as they finish off the electrical lines and put in the drip systems for all the new trees and plants.

Say Good Morning to Roger Balzan on his way to work at the front gate.

We even found Steve Endsley at work trying to finish off a few jobs he started before his accident.  He is definitely restricted to LIGHT duty though since he has to have back surgery on July 17.  After the surgery, he'll be down for another three month recovery.  We sure miss him around here.  He was definitely to GO TO person for those odd handyman chores around the house.

I received two phone calls from fellow residents last night alerting me the big haboob dust storm that was headed our way.  I kept going outside to watch the sky but never really saw the typical wall of approaching dust.  The sky was indeed unusual and changed dramatically as we scanned the horizon.

Avis Gray sent me this photo as the haboob appeared over the open area near the pickleball courts.  I guess the cloud must have passed us overhead.  We know there was definitely dust last night because our patio was covered with it this morning.

We spotted Luis emptying out the main laundry room yesterday.

He has instructions to empty out the room in preparation for expanding the fitness center.  I don't know any details of the project yet so be patient.

Sun Communities has made ANOTHER major investment for Palm Creek in that we have 35 new computers installed in all the offices.   We're also getting a designated server room that will be set up over in the sales office.  Members of corporate IT staff were here working with Gary and Valerie yesterday.

Now for some fun stuff to end today's post.  Doug Conkle sent me a link to this fun and interesting website where you can learn all kinds of stuff about the area surrounding a particular zip code.  Enter your home Zip code and read the interesting facts of your community.

Tuesday

It seems strange but there is relatively little activity out on the field this morning.  Our 94 early morning temperature was a bit oppressive since the humidity is up to 40%.....although I've heard from several readers who are willing to take our triple digit heat to get out of the heavy humidity in the midwest.

New house coming in on the Shimmering Desert Drive.

Here is another site at 1952 being prepped for a new house.

Even Fernando has shovel in hand this morning as they work on installing the sprinkler system around the palm trees at Palm Park.

This big barrel cactus is sprouting some colorful flowers this morning.

We had our monthly summer bingo game last night with a massive crowd of about 20 people.  I get to be the caller in summer and always enjoy the job.  Besides that........I get a free bottle of water to go with it.
Bingo photos were taken with Diane Gaines' cell phone and are posted on the Palm Creek facebook page.

Corey Cookinham was one of our big winners last night along with Chip Milner at the back table.

Ray & Ann Koistenen, Don and Carrie Blair

Nancy Flader at left trying to get out of the picture as usual....Avis, Suzette, Lynne, Connie.

Popkorn and Sue Neumann

Even the Palm trees look hot and wilted.

But the swimming pool is absolutely wonderful and so appreciated in the evenings.  We watch many a sunset up there during these summer months.

That's all for today.  Should be more news being released this week.

Back to Work

As you can see, we took a nice long relaxing weekend with no blog and no house watch chores.  Three days off is as much as I could stand though or I'd be BORED.  Feels good to be back at "work" again.

We had a lovely thunderstorm Saturday night.  We sat outside and watched it rain, thunder, and light up the sky.  Probably didn't get but a half inch of rain, but it will be enough to keep our desert happy for a while.  Humidity today is up to 36% though and we're not used to that.  Felt pretty warm out there at 92 degrees this morning.

Tree trimmers are doing Oasis Street this morning.  That is Susan Burkhart standing there to watch them trim the tree at her new house at 1869.  Susan and hubby Don were here for a few weeks to move in to their new home.  If you are a neighbor, be sure to say hello to them when you return and welcome them to your neighborhood.  They're from Texas.

Palm Park is still a work in progress.  They've finished this new line of palm trees and are now finishing up with the new sprinkler lines.

We walked around the patio area by the Bistro this morning.  Supposedly they'll start moving trees here  this week as the construction plans have finally been approved by the City Engineer.

I "think" these olive trees will have to be removed.

Ohhhhhh......that pool certainly looks inviting after walking around in the hot sun this morning.

That's all the resort news I have for now.  As for Casa Grande news, there has been a big construction project in front of the plaza by the Fry's Store on Florence Blvd.  We wondered in anticipation for a long time to see what was coming our way.....was it a cool new retail store:  or a new restaurant??  It was sooooo disappointing to find out it is just another mattress store called Mattress Firm.  Oh well.

Have a GREAT day!!

Summer Potters at Work

It may be the height of summer but our Pottery Room is still an active place.  In fact, this group loves working here in the summer months because they have more room and it isn't crowded.  Lots of time and convenience to work on all those special project.

Kathy Johnson

Renee Yaeger

Sandy Milner

Natalie Aaron

Sandi Feller

Connie Morin is a newcomer to pottery and is getting guidance from Suzette Taylor.

Leo Semones

Sue Neumann

Avis Gray

Some of their pieces are ready for the kiln.

Leo makes these great clocks!  I want one.

We're waiting for final approval of expansion plans from the City Engineer's Office before any announcements can be made about changes to this room.  I've received numerous emails from eager residents asking about the status of this so I promise to write as soon as we have firm information.

The same goes for the Bistro plans.  Just smell the roses and be patient.
