Found our Roof

Hey.  Our roof has been found.  It flew way over to the trash area and was still pretty much in one piece.  Sure am glad there wasn't anybody there when it landed!

Lost Our Roof!!

WOW!!!  We are currently experiencing our first haboob of the season and it is a dandy.  One huge gust came through and ripped off our patio roof.  We haven't even found where it landed yet!

Here it comes!

Dust was pretty thick.

Bang!  Patio roof is gone.

We found some of it in our neighbor's driveway but the huge metal sheet is gone.  We drove all over and haven't found it yet.

As soon as the wind died down to a semi-reasonable speed (25 mph), Don and I jumped in the golf cart and toured over half the park searching for damage.  Looks like we were the only ones affected.  We saw plenty of tipped over potted plants but everything else appears to be fine.  There's still too much wind and dust out there to breathe safely so we'll be back out there when it's safe.

Just saw this on TV.

I was just complaining that I didn't have any exciting news to post on the blog.  Whoops.  Mother Nature must have heard me.

Security

Thank you to Ranger Bob Herinck and Ranger Bob Daniels as they will not only be on their regular summer ranger duty but will also be covering security during their shifts.  We're happy to have them on board.

Our regular security team will be covering the grounds at night.

Summer Action

Thank you to Amazing Dental for a fun day at the movies. There were over 90 of us at Harkins theatre to watch the movie "Tag".  

We also received a goody bag with a cute pen, tablet, and box of candy.

The fuzzy hair serves as a screen cleaner.

Before the show, Andrea addressed several questions about the dental service and said she would present a seminar for us next month.  She also plans another show for September.

  

Chalk marks are scattered all throughout the park in preparation for road repair.

Repairs and maintenance are a never ending story.

Awwww........couldn't resist taking Mouse's picture as he curled up for a nap while I was playing a computer game.  Having cats is sooooo entertaining.  

Security Update

Thank you to Kevin Flynn (our General Manager) for the recent letter we received in our mailboxes regarding summer security.  AND thank you to the security staff that endlessly drive through the park all night long doing their best to keep our park secure.

Treat Time

New AED Information

AED = Automated External Defibrillator

Based on feedback from Club groups and individual Residents along with our own safety assessments, we have made the following changes to our AED locations around the Resort

1.       The AED at the back of the Tennis Courts has been moved from the shed at the back of the court area up to the Snak Shak at the front of the Tennis area. It is located between the 911 call box and the first aid kit. This will make it much more accessible to anyone who may need it.

2.       There is a new AED located on the front porch of the Ocotillo classroom, right across from Sewing. This will serve the increase in classroom activity at the north end of the Street of Dreams. We will also be adding a 911 call box right next to it. It has been ordered, and should be installed in the next week or so.

3.       There is another new AED located on the wall to the left of the Landscaping gate, right next to the Woodshop. This will serve the woodshop, landscaping area, car and pet wash area, as well as the various sports activities nearby.

4.       All other AED locations remain the same.

Please note: At present, there are no emergency oxygen bottles in the two new kits. They also have been ordered and will be put in the boxes as soon as we receive them.

Movie Time

Amazing Dental has announced that our movie for July 2 at 11:00am will be TAG. Each person in attendance will receive a goody bag and a gift. If attendance is good, Andrea will offer this again in September. There are still 62 tickets left so stir up your neighbors and friends and bring them along to support the event. Deadline is this Friday (June 29) as the theater needs a headcount for the gifts.

Casa Grande made news yesterday with a big fire at an industrial site on the west side of town.  No details available yet because local paper isn't published on Mondays.  The smoke was visibly seen from our house but under control very quickly.  Thank you to our devoted fire department!

We'd love to have some fried chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, ribs, potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, watermelon, apple pie, cherry pie, homemade ice cream,, etc.

Palm Trees Trimmed

This photo looks a lot different than the two posted earlier this week as all the palms in the area have been trimmed.  There are tons and tons of leaves and debris removed from the trees every year.  

Maverick went up for a bird's eye view this morning.

I don't have any exciting news to report as other than our afternoon card games, Tapas Tuesdays, and Saturday night bingo .... it's pretty quiet around here.  Thought I would share some random pictures of the Heplers as we go about our house watch chores this past week.

The worst part of the job is fixing and maintaining the many irrigation issues that arise.  Sometimes there's not enough water....sometimes too much.  These underground timers are the worst!  Just getting down there is hard enough but this brand of timer is very complicated.

I water these potted cactus plants............when mama dove isn't perched on the nest she builds there every year.

We get silly with all the photos we take.

Underground hoses spring a leak.  This requires Mr. Maldonado's tender care.

In the early morning, it is actually cooler outside than it is inside houses.  Inside doesn't cool down very much when the AC is set at 90.

Always water pails to rinse and refill.

RVs and 5th wheels have water buckets too.

I like it when folks leave a scrub brush to get the heavy water deposits.

Sprinkler heads have a way of popping off and need replaced.

Very uncomfortable places to work for my poor hubby.
