Quilt Show & Wood Show

We have soooooo many talented people staying at Palm Creek!!!

While walking through the dozens of displays this morning, I met up with a group of ladies from Robson.  They love coming to our events...especially the quilt show.  It is definitely a sight to see.

It's impossible to take photos of everything especially when the rooms are so crowded with onlookers.

The "Community Projects" is a favorite of mine.  The sewers make all these beautiful blankets, pillowcases, and baby clothes to give to the Women's shelters, foster kids, etc.  What a wonderful way to share their talent.

I'm also very impressed with the hard work it must take to get everything set up for the show.  There are so many finishing touches that add to the decor.  All the little end tables and dodads on display help make for a lovely show.

The auction is always a busy place as folks buy their tickets in hopes of winning some of the many prizes on display.

.....And then there is the wonderful Quilts of Valor.  How rewarding to be remembered with a labor of love.

Of course, Dolores was there again to provide music for the occasion.

This quilt certainly attracted a lot of attention.
Somewhere there will be a very excited young man receiving this masterpiece.

I loved the attached note.

Talk about talent!!!
There are true masterpieces coming from the wood shop!

Judy Clark is one of my favorites.

My neighbor, Texas Eddie, is a familiar face at the woodshop.

Bob Hernick does such intricate scroll saw work!

Darryl's house is full of his master collection.

Beautiful auction pieces.

The wood folks seem to be a well organized group.  Auction tickets were sold along with a nice lunch.  Yellow t-shirts indicate the proud members.

Congratulations to one and all that participated in the events today.  Thank you for sharing your work with us and providing a great show!

Meanwhile, back at home, Don is still working on building his new computer.

Soooo many pieces!

Palm Creek Residents and Guest’s

I have received numerous emails and phone calls inquiring about our in season rules and regulations regarding children and pool usage.  In our current Palm Creek Rules and Regulations updated on 01/31/2019 the policy is as follows.  This is our current policy and will be observed.

49.  Swimming Pools and Spas:  Pools are closed from 5:30am to 7:30am for cleaning.  Children 17 and under are permitted in the pool areas during the posted hours of 10:00am – 12pm and 4:00pm – 6:00pm and must be accompanied by an adult at all times.  (During summer, children are allowed in the main pool only and there are no time restrictions).  No horseplay, running, jumping or diving.  For your safety, pools and spas will be closed at 9:00pm.  Children and adults in diapers are not permitted to use the pool.  “Swimmer Pant” type diapers specifically made for swimming are allowed and are available for purchase at the activities office.  Only persons over the age of 18 are permitted to use the Spas.  Glass containers are not permitted in the pool area.  Suntan lotion and oil are bad for filters and tiles, Please shower before swimming.  Please observe all posted rules and keep the surrounding gates closed.  Remember, there are no lifeguards on duty.

I have received many inquiries and questions regarding changing the current rules and possibly extending the children’s hours in season however we will not be making any changes this season.  We will be looking into and considering other options for the future but any changes if made will be announced and communicated to residents.

Copies of our current Rules and Regulations are available in Guest Services

Thank You

Garth Brooks Tribute + G55

OMG!!  That show was some down right Foot Stompin' FUN!!  The audience just cheered and cheered adding to the excitement.

The audience called out for "the Fiddler" to do a spontaneous solo....and she did it!!

We have certainly had some GREAT entertainment this year!  Thank you to all who work on these events.   AND.....the dinner was really delicious.  It takes a village to pull off an evening like last night.  Congrats to all who took part.

Just a reminder to all the iPhone owners.  John Winston conducts his classes at 9:00 on Monday mornings.  I don't have an iPhone but I still attend for the information.

The room fills up fast so get there early.  This week's class was all about messaging and all the cute gizmos, emoticons, and clever ways to send an entertaining message.  Your grandkids will be impressed with your new skills.

Nothing new or entertaining with "the boys".  They're both peaceful and healthy (although a bit perturbed about being awoken for a photo.)

Sleep tight boys.  I'm away on a Mahjong Marathon for the day!

Neighborhood Watch Program

This has been a very exciting weekend with all the Cancer Awareness events.  In addition to all the festive activities, I do want to acknowledge and give recognition to the speakers that were here for our Neighborhood Watch program Saturday.

Jeanine Sumption works diligently to keep the Neighborhood Watch program active.  Yesterday we enjoyed a presentation by Lupe Reyes of the Casa Grande Police Department and Scott Arnold from the Pinal County Adult Detention Center.  Lupe is a Criminal Intelligence Detective that works closely with the gang task force.  It's really informative to hear about the gang activity in the cities of Arizona.  We also learned how to interpret the messages that are scrawled on a wall of graffiti.  Fascinating!  Thank you to Dean Lanes for arrangements.

This was a VERY informative presentation on gang activity.

Found a couple more photos from our "balloon fest" and want to save them here.  Thanks for sharing!

Della somehow caught all the balloons aglow at the same moment!

Cancer Awareness Parade, Balloons and More

It has been a busy fun-filled day with beautiful weather as a bonus.  We awoke to the flutter of activity when the flamingos landed and we got "flocked".

Later I strolled over to the club house and came across the rubber ducky race down the canal.  Luckily all the little ducks were captured before they escaped out into the lake.

Our Bingo event was quite successful.  There were enough players to earn $1000 for the fund!!  What a great way to raise money and have fun at the same time.

Then came the big parade.  Participants either walked, pedaled bikes, or rode carts all around the resort.  That's a long hike!

Thank you to the Vista Grande High School for leading the parade with some marching music.  It's always fun to see the kids in action.

Grand Marshall for the day was Stacie Parrish, Sun Communities Regional Vice President.

It's always fun to see our Management team support our events.  Here is Scott Houle, wife Margurite, and their two children riding with Gabrielle.

Love the bubble machine!

Looks like everyone had a good time in spite of the long hike.  Congratulations to all who made it!

After the parade, as evening approached, it was time to head back over to the activities for the balloon glow.

I always enjoy the walk across the golf course.

Sunsets are stunning!!

Big balloons could be seen from a good way off.  Three cheers to the pilots who come to display their balloons as I'm sure it is a lot of work to set up and take down.

Thank you, John Winston for this great photo

After a nice cup of chili and a cookie or two, it was time for the walk back home.  It was a nice time to contemplate on the day of fun and also to remember loved ones who have succumbed to the dreaded cancer.  Let's hope our fund raising efforts this weekend help victims and families to cope.
