Second Monsoon Storm??

Our WeatherBug alert went on Friday night and warned of a potential storm headed our way.  It may have "stormed" somewhere nearby but, unfortunately, not much here.  We did get .03 on the rain gauge and at least received enough moisture for a rainbow.

The afternoon sky was beautiful.  I was coming home from the card room on my scooter and just had to stop to try to get a picture.  It was soooo pretty.

A group of us are going to Harkins Sunday to see the Horizon movie with Kevin Costner.  We'll post a review next week for you Costner fans.

This will be my last outing before my knee replacement surgery on Monday.  Right knee was done on March 28.  Left knee scheduled for July 1.  Can't wait to be upright with TWO good legs after mending.  Will keep you posted.

I've learned that I must post Scooter pictures at the end of each blog entry or I get complaints from our readers.  We received some new towels in a big plastic bag this week.  OMG!!  Scooter is absolutely delighted with the plastic bag.  I put one of his jingle balls inside and it entertains him for a long time.  He chases it across the floor, jumps on top and slides across the room.  So fun to watch.  BUT....we learned that we must pick it up when we go to bed at night as it is a very noisy toy in the middle of the night.  😖

There's no such thing as a closed door to a kitten in one of these park model homes.  😸

Yes.......kittens are adorable!

First Monsoon Thunderstorm

Last night we received our first rainfall since April!! Hallelujah!
We received almost a half inch so it was delightful.  Beautiful thunderstorm.

Another nice part of stormy weather is that it brings clouds to our blue sky and makes for some awesome sunsets!

Last week Weather Bug gave this prediction of our upcoming week.

Unfortunately, today we get a different view without the possibility of rain....just more HOT.  The hot stuff we can handle, but this humidity of 51% makes the air thick and hard to breathe.

Today's Casa Grande Dispatch had some interesting news.

Scooter is doing well.  He's still adorable.  He's still full of KITTEN playfulness and joy.  He still pesters Kat until Kat jumps up high where the little devil can't get to him.  We live in a small house here but it must be like a huge mansion with exciting places to explore for little Scooter.

Don needs to learn to hang up his nicely laundered shirts BEFORE Scooter decides to nap on them.

I must hurry now and get ready to head up to the Ballroom for that wonderful Taco Tuesday!!
Have a GREAT day!

Weather Update

Don and I look forward to our morning coffee together out on our patio.  We didn't stay long this morning as it was already 86 degrees by 6:00.  There wasn't a breath of wind.  Palm branches were perfectly still.  The sky overhead had a light cloud cover making it look like we could potentially have some rain.  This statistically IS monsoon season.  Dew point is 64 and humidity is 47%.  Here's hoping for some RAIN.

Here's another copy of the menu for the upcoming week.  Keep it handy.  I'll see you on Taco Tuesday. I can't resist that Taco bar!

By the way........we still have two tables of Swoop players every Monday and Friday.  Summer residents are welcome to join us!

I was asked to post this on behalf of the RC Flyers:

Most people 65 and over, who join the Casa Grade RC Flyers, can get their dues reimbursed through a special new program. Visit http://casagrandercflyers.com/joinatnocost.html for details. We will also teach new members to fly for FREE. Several of our instructors live in Palm Creek.

****************

We used to take our drone to the sky and overlook the resort. I "surfed" through old films this morning and thought you might enjoy seeing a bit of history. This is from November of 2017.

I wish we could still fly the drone but Sun Communities said no drones over the park. 😖

I dare not post without displaying cat photos or I receive complaints.

Scooter seems to think that Kat is a new toy. You can see by the expression on Kat's face that he is not pleased but he has been very tolerant.

Have a GREAT day.

Taco Bar Success + Next Week's Menu

Congratulations to Chef and his crew for another highly successful and delicious Taco Bar!  Word has spread so we have an even bigger attendance.

I learned a new culinary term:  Seasoned barbacoa beef.  Chef sent the menu to me but when I saw the word barbacoa, I thought he misspelled it and I used the term "barbecued".  Little did I know that barbacoa was the correct term for the delicious cooked beef that was available for our tacos today.  Chef Maywalt is amazing!  Sorry I didn't get a close up of the beef.

Sous chef, Bridgette, was complimented highly for the delicious strawberry rhubarb pie she served up for us.

As we sat at our table, I yelled at Don...."wait, wait.  Take a picture first."  Too late.  But you can still get an idea for how yummy it was.

In addition to preparing all the food, Chef and Bridgette work hard to keep our serving areas stocked and clean.  It's amazing that they can do so much with only three people this summer.

We keep Connie busy at the window taking orders and dishing up the drinks.  We still get beer at half price (only $3) for our lunches.  😁

Here's the menu for next week listing Chef's Specials.

Meanwhile, back home we must search and search to find little Scooter.  Where did he fall asleep this time?  Finally found him in our TV drawer.

Notice the squirt bottle resting nearby in an effort to save our window blinds. 😕

Kat has been VERY patient with little Scooter.  He "tolerates" Scooter's antics and then tries to hide away for a nap.

(Yes, Chef will manage to serve our lunch.)

Check out the busy "tree bees" that are visiting each and every palm tree in the park.  They never come down by us but just hover in the tree tops.

Another Day

Thursday's lunch special was BLAT sandwiches.  (bacon, lettuce, AVACADO, and tomato).  Yum.  It included a bag of chips and a cup of potato salad.  Of course, we also took advantage of the special to buy a beer at only $3.  Great summer meal!!

The salad bar is quite a favorite of mind because I love to heap the lettuce with all kinds of goodies.  It's so much nicer than making a salad at home where I have to chop it all up.

Don thinks I'm crazy because all he wants on a salad is tomato and cheese.  I say "how boring" that is.  This is MY kind of salad.  That's why I love that salad bar! 😉

We stopped by the horseshoe courts one morning.  The heat isn't too bad at their early 8:00 starting time and they seemed to be having a good time.

The palm trees are definitely coming into full bloom.  I tried to get a close up of the blossoms in our tree so you could see all the little black bees that LOVE the blooms!  Just imagine how many of these bees are in the park now that all 3,000 trees are coming into blossom.

Don had a funny episode on his housewatch rounds this week.  He walked around to the backyard, turned on their irrigation to make sure it was working, took a few pictures, and then finally walked to the front yard.  AHA!  There was a big split in the hose and it was spraying out into the street and directly into the golf cart where Don parked.  😂

You can see the dry spot on the golf seat where his paperwork was resting.  (now WET paperwork).  He walked back to shut off the system.  As he was getting ready to make the repair, one of our Palm Creek maintenace men happened by and very graciously offered to do the repair since he had all the tools on hand.

It was so kind of him to help as Don tried to dry the golf cart but wound up driving home on the wet seat.  😀
Our hero!

The main pool will be closed for quite a while while it gets redone.  It was already done over in 2019 but guess the tiles don't last very long.

Another reminder that our resort-wide water will be shut off on Tuesday, June 18, from 9am to noon.  Chef says he will be able to work around that issue and still have our Taco Bar on Tuesday.  See you there!!

Nap time for all three of my Hepler men.  They only need one chair.

Time to share a little breakfast.  Scooter prefers the egg from Don's sandwich.

Nap time again in his favorite tray in the cat tree.
