Lots of Miscellaneous

The Kitchen Blowout sale was VERY successful.  These tables were full to begin with.  I arrived about 15 minutes after start time and was lucky to stock up on some applie pie, red velvet cake, and delicious chocolate chip cookies.  The event was a complete sell out as folks came and stocked their pantry.

Don's bedroom is a popular spot for the cats.

Mouse loves the nice dark closet.

I looked in a couple hours later only to see that he at least rolled over.

Danny DOVEito comes to join us for breakfast each morning.  (Note the cool coffee cup!)

This is out little friend we named "Palmer".

Kat enjoys "fresh" water.

Speaking of cats....our son, Kevin, sent this photo saying his cat ignores the new cat tree he bought but loves the box it came in.  Every cat owner will understand.  😀

The ballfield has been seeded.

The horseshoe gang gathers for their morning event.

Both the front AND back nine are being seeded.  The whole staff is busy getting it prepped as the goal is to open both at the same time.  To expedite the process, they had to close the dog parks earlier than expected so they would be done first.

Hand seeding around the trees.

Contractors are busy with remodeling for residents.
Good Morning Demian.  (Wil Paul Construction)

Mr. Maldonado will be powerwashing on a daily basis now.

Tom is working on the ballfield.

We spotted this pup out on his morning walk.  Love the sunglasses!

There is definitely anticipation in the air as we await the fall arrival of our residents.  The weather is absolutely ideal now with nice cool morning temps.  Love it!

Get a Cat They Said

Get a cat they said.  It will be fun they said.  ACCKKK!!

Kat loves to chew on a straw when I have one in my Yeti cup so I have to watch him all the time.  Yesterday he accidentally knocked over the water jug next to my computer.  As luck would have it, even though there was a lid on the cup....just enough water splashed out onto my computer keyboard.  <SCREAM>

Now my A, S, and D keys no longer work.  As they say in computer lingo....they got fried.  So sad!!  Moral of the story is to never have any liquid near your computer as accidents eventually happen.  Very EXPENSIVE accidents.  Replacing the keyboard on an Acer machine is not feasible so I am now using a bluetooth keyboard.  Somewhat inconvenient but at least it is an option without a huge monitary outlay of a new computer.  <sigh>

I think Kat is now hiding from my wrath and despair as he's taking his nap up on top of the cupboards.

Mouse is not concerned and is sleeping peacefully.

In other Hepler family news, we bought a Roomba vacuum cleaner.  It is more than just a cat toy as the thing actually works and does a great job on our new flooring.  With two cats in the house, it will save me from my daily vacuum chores.  From an App on Don's cell phone, he just has to say "Alexa, ask Roomba to start vacuuming".  It is so kind of him to take over that job.

It's a good thing the little devils are so adorable.

Lots of "chores" to get done in preparation for our residents returning.  Today they're having Dave's RV Washing Service to powerwash ALL the black folding chairs and racks so they'll be shiny clean and ready for our concerts.

Watch them in action:

Back behind the administration building, they're chopping up and replacing some of the cracked concrete.  It will be replaced with nice green astro turf so should look quite nice.

I've noticed these little saga palms are being planted in several areas around the park.  They should be more maintenace free than past choices.

Still working on getting all the palm trees trimmed.  It must be quite a challenge in the woods by the statues.

This afternoon should be a fun event as we're having a "Blowout Sale" in the ballroom kitchen.  They're cleaning out the frig and freezer of any leftover items from the summer.  We get to purchase desserts by the slice to stock our home pantry.  Should be fun to see what's left and to enjoy a quick snack with friends while we watch the action.
***********
We're getting ready for the influx of residents and visitors.  Sure would be nice if the border would open soon!  Good luck to all of us.

RALLY NEWS

I heard some grapevine news about a big rally coming here to the resort so asked Marion Nelson for the details.  Here is the official word:

RALLY NEWS

Palm Creek will be hosting two back-to-back Tiffin Rallies.  The first rally is for their Class A motorhomes from Oct 18-22 with 320 rigs.  The second rally is for their Class C motorhomes from Oct 25-28 with 150 rigs.   They will be using our facilities for the duration (Ballroom, SanTan, Sonora North and South, and Adobe Card Room). Normally we don’t schedule rallies during peak season (October – March), however, we made an exception this time because  their rallies have been rescheduled three times due to COVID.  We thought it was early enough without major impact to our residents, since most things don’t get started until end of October anyway.

**Poker, Swoop, Domino, Mahjong players:  Take note of the dates and alert your players to avoid confusion later.

New from Sales & Another Video

We spotted a single wide site over in the 800 section (851) and wondered if it was going to be something special.  I texted Marguarite Houle for information.

Here is her reply: "We are creating some fun ways for every one to stay with us here at Palm Creek. Site 851 will be a park model home that will be a rental for those who need an ADA unit. It will be equipped with all things necessary for a person who is wheelchair dependent, or for someone who is hearing impaired. We are focusing on making sure everyone is able to enjoy our lifestyle. We will see a resident move their RV to another spot and watch their new park model move into their site as well. Custom ordering their forever home was really fun. All of the Spec homes coming in are available to everyone to purchase except one that was ordered by a sweet couple who we hope to have moved in to their new home mid-November. We have built about 30 new homes since January 1 of this year and we built our 7 model homes that we will be finishing decorating by 10/1, and available to tour. We are expecting about 6 more homes before the end of the year which will be for sale to the public as well. Next year we are planning to receive another 30 new homes in Phase 3A/B, and a second ADA park model for short term rentals at site 852. We are working with a resident in the non-pet section on their new cottage as well so we may see a hole dug in that neighborhood next summer.  So many exciting things happening around the Creek."

Don sent the drone up again to check on construction progress at the much anticipated steakhouse.

Palm tree removal

Today we said goodbye to the poor palm tree that was struck by lightning.

It was farewell to several other palms throughout the park that had died for one reason or another.

Our landscape crew hauled all the debris to the maintenance area where it was then loaded into this big white container and hauled away to a recycler.

Oleander bushes are removed from around the north pool.  That will definitely help to keep the pool cleaner.

New palms planted in the corner.

New pizza place will be located near Harkins.
Rosati's Pizza
Here's a link to their website so you can check the menu.

This newspaper article appeared in late July 2019.  The hotel has been under construction a long time.  Some folks call it the "two men and a hammer" project.

Folks here are still betting odds on which opens for business first.....the hotel or the anticipated Texas Roadhouse.

LOL.......Newt fell in the fish tank so naturally Anton added a cartoon to his CatDad images.
