Beautiful Weather, Bingo

What absolutely perfect weather we have been having.
Look at this gorgeous sky.  What a great day for a balloon ride above the park.

This week's Monday night bingo winners.  David was a lucky winner on the starburst number for a grand total of $253.  Greg won game twelve for $120.  Congratulations!!

Bonnie Sewell's Android class was learning how to post videos to You Tube.  We also shared various apps that are useful and fun.  You can join us on Tuesday afternoons at 2:00 in the Ocotillo Room.

Dinner, Health Fair, and more

These nice seasonal decorations are a great way to impress our newcomers as they approach the front office.

Congratulations to Robin Perry and her staff for a delicious Autumn Dinner!  We enjoyed a lovely meal with pork chops, potatoes, veggies, rolls, and great dessert.  We so appreciate our upgrade to good china, real silverware, and glasses.  Those of us who have been here a few years remember paper plates and plastic forks.

Also a big thanks to the staff for their prompt and very organized serving.  We all received our food timely and fast while the food was still hot.  That's 16 tables of 8 people each.  It was a good crowd and great service!

We look forward to the upcoming meat loaf dinner on Thursday, November 14.  Stop by the Bistro or the Activities office to purchase your tickets for $11 per person.  Dinner will be served from 4:30 - 6:30 pm.  There is no specific time you have to be in by.  Sounds like something new.

Hello to Ron & Alex from the Special Events team.

WOW!!  I've never seen such a well groomed poodle!  He is just beautiful!!  Richelle says the secret is to use the right products on the right breed of dog.  She must know her stuff!!!

Family Dentistry is holding a raffle for a free bleaching.

The Joint was offering a free back massage and advertises their full line of services.  Two doctors on staff and open seven days a week.

Gary Keller was present with a representative from Zilis advertising for their magical CBD oil.  I can personally vouch for the product as it certainly help me with my arthritis!  It has also dramatically helped Gary with his Parkinsons problem.

Bob and Julie are signing up to get their flu shots from Walgreens.

Rita Mullins and her daughter, Marcia, are present to talk about their Silver Stretchers class.

Yoga anyone?

April Crimmins has several classes for us regarding fitness and exercise.

Dee Dee was present to talk about the line dance classes.  Hopefully she will soon be able to get her group transferred to the ballroom as her class size is growing.

As I was leaving the event, I spotted these behind the scene elves getting the decorations ready for the Veterans Day breakfast.  Looks like some very nice decorations for an important event.

Don walked home from poker the other night and stopped to admire the fountain.  Hopefully future expansion plans will put this kind of fountain at all the locations.  Really looks nice!

AND............it is wonderful to have the new LED lights along the path through the course.

Meanwhile back home, I found Kat and Mouse comfortably tucked away in Don's closet for their morning nap.  They need a mid morning nap after being awake and rambunctious at 5:30am.  They are adorable furry alarm clocks but I haven't learned how to adjust their awake settings!

Bingo and Baseball

Bingo started it's first night of the season on Monday.  We already had 96 people in attendance.  We'll have more each week as the season develops.

Congratulations to the big winners!
Mike was the grand winner of $126 and Deborah won $90.

Today was the start of the Softball season.
Come out and cheer for our teams.  It's so much fun to watch.  A complete game schedule is posted on their blog site:  Softball Schedule

Games are played every Tuesday and Thursday.  Palm Creek has a total of six teams so you're bound to find friends on each team to cheer for.

Watch the game and enjoy a delicious burger or breakfast burrito from the sports grill.
Connie and her team will be happy to serve you.

Do any of you have a Sun Communities gift card?  If you do, stop in Activities and get it changed before you try to use it.  They have a new point of sale system now that won't recognize your card unless you upgrade it to a new one.  Stop in at your leisure to get it changed so you avoid any aggrevation at a check out counter.

New cards look like this:

**By the way, they make WONDERFUL gifts.

Great weather, hostess hut, witches, RC Flyers Club

Look at this weather forecast!  It is BEAUTIFUL.  Those of you still up in snow country should be very envious.

Halloween brought out the witches.  Most of these gals have been playing Pegs & Jokers together every Thursday afternoon for over 10 years!

Nancy Flader, Barb Nelson, Diane Reese, Linda Steward, Sue Hepler, Avis Gray

This roller derby has been advertised on NextDoor and in the local paper.  Sounds like fun so we are going to check it out.

Welcome to the "Host Hut".  Life will be so much nicer for our hosts and hostesses as they spend most of their shift outdoors greeting newcomers to the park.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, November 9 to see the events at the Casa Grande RC Flyers site.

Health Fair, Octoberfest, and Cat Naps

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9
9 a.m. to 1 pm
Ballroom

Be sure to mark your calendar to attend this Health Fair.  With over 20 vendors, there should be some good information......AND it will be a great opportunity to get your flu shot.

Walgreen’s will be providing flu shots during this event.  There are two different strains available:  under 65 and 65+ years old.   We’ve been told that approximately 90% of insurance companies cover the cost of flu shots, and Walgreen’s accepts most major insurance companies.  If you are not covered by insurance, you can pay out-of-pocket at the Health Fair ($35 for under 65, and $57 for 65+).   Please sign up in advance in Activities Office, as only 50 shots will be available.

There may also be information regarding the sought after CBD products now on the market.

OCTOBERFEST

Delicious food, good music, perfect weather .... all provided a great opportunity to mingle with friends as they return to Palm Creek.    Thank you to Marion Nelson and her staff for a lovely afternoon.  They even served us at our tables which added to the success of the event.

Laundry day at the Heplers.  Don must learn to put his clothes away immediately .... or else.

Both cats have a favorite bed at the top of their cat tree.  Sometimes they share but Kat isn't a fan of sharing.

Kat looks for secluded places where Mouse can't interfere with a cat nap.

No room to snuggle up there.

Sewing Room, Mahjong

Mary Williams mentioned that the sewing room is so happy to have their new bathroom installed this summer so I stopped by for some photos.  The park has done so much for all of us this summer!

The room is quite busy already this early in the season.

I'm sure the walls will soon be covered in wall hangings and decorative sewn projects.
Sewers and quilters are grateful for the new addition to their shop.

The new bathroom area was previously used for much needed storage so a new shed was also built this summer.

I hear that Steve Crane did most of the work by making up the plans for the shelving, etc.  Scott Murphy and Jon Baker helped with sheet rock and flooring.

The shelves were custom built to accommodate the storage boxes.  Every inch is already occupied.

Our Mahjong group is slowly coming back from summer break.  We even had a table of western players on Friday.

Classes are held on Fridays for beginners and those who want more practice.

Another new feature added this summer!  New window blinds.  Yahoo!!

One more week till we turn the calendar to November when more of our events kick into action.

Bingo starts Monday, November 4, 7:00pm
I get the honor of being the first caller.  Fun!!

Tuesday, November 5, 2:00pm is the first Android class.  I'll be assisting Bonnie Sewell to introduce new features of smartphones and tablets.  I've learned so much about my phone and Google photos that I'm anxious to share tips with others.

Wednesday, November 6, 9:30am is the first computer club meeting.  Bring your smart phone along and we'll make it even smarter.

I'm really looking forward to a fun season!
