Wednesday

It was a wonderful 68 degrees as we enjoyed our morning coffee on the patio today.  It doesn't get much better than this.  October and April are definitely our favorite months of the year when living here.

Our morning tour started on Coyote Lane when I spied this beautiful cactus flower and made Don turn the cart around for a photo.  How can a cactus that is so thorny and tough create such a beautiful display!

Contractors are busy installing houses in a number of locations throughout the park.  Our sales department must have been busy.

Same story here.  Work progresses out on Cottonwood.  Now they're pouring the sidewalk.

Reseeding preparations continue on the golf course.  Each sandtrap has to be covered to keep the grass seed from entering where it is definitely not wanted.

Just a view down the course.

And a close up of the love doves sitting on the railing.

Bill and Leslie Murr (Site 28) are back now so we stepped up at Site 27  for a view of the field.  I think these folks will have an excellent view of both the pickleball and the ballfield.  Of course this may change once all the bushes get planted and have a chance to grow but it will be a fun season this year for sure.

Lots of trucks and equipment out there today but it's a little too far away to see exactly what they're doing.  I'm hoping to get another tour later today.

Continuing work on the walkways between courts.

It looks like they're starting to spread the compost soil out on the ballfield.  Will get you an update later.

Pickle people were quite plentiful this morning as eight courts were in full use.

Avis and her partner stopped for a pose.  That's Edie in the background saying "hurry up".

Mark Nelson is back to play......at least until its time to take off for the Huntsman games and St. George.

Kent and Leslie Evans have a beautiful site by the lake on hole #13.  Luckily, they are "birders" so have binoculars, cameras, and a bird ID book handy at all times.  Here they spotted this female Osprey as she circled the lake twice.  They said she dove down twice for fish but came up empty handed each time.

Today they also spotted this American Avocet strutting around the lake.  Thank you for sharing these special photo ops!!

Okay....that's all I have for this morning.  You have a GREAT day.

Tuesday - Compost Photos

The compost program has been a fantastic success story for Palm Creek.  This weekend they brought in this huge screening machine which sorts the compost by size particles.  Amazing to watch it in action.

The texture coming from this front end is perfect!

This side gets run through the screen one more time to break up small clumps of soil.

That back grate is called the grizzly because it screens the larger chunks that get pushed off to run through again.

Composting our palm fronds, bush trimmings, grass clippings, etc has saved Palm Creek thousands and thousands of dollars plus we're kind to the environment because our green refuse is not going to the landfill.

Last year Jim said we bought over $10,000 of steer manure to spread on the course for reseeding.  This year we should be able to supply our own product for additional savings.

This finished product is amazing!  It smells like rich fresh soil.  No compost smells whatsoever and it has a perfect moisture content.  This is what will be used for the grass at the softball field.

Perfect medium for our gardens too!  Jim has planted the gardens himself this year and the plants are really coming along well.

Look at the nice pepper crop already.

Tomatoes

Multiple kinds of lettuce and other goodies are planned.

AND....it's time to get the shuffleboard courts ready for action.  The season is approaching!

Have a great day and rest up so you're ready to play when you get here.

Monday

Good Morning, Readers!  Welcome to another Monday morning tour around the park.  Things are really kind of quiet this morning for a Monday.

Work progresses on Cottonwood.

The cement company is busy putting in the forms for the walkway between courts.

The pool company is adding chemicals to the main pool.

It's always fun to stop and chat with the work crews we meet.  Say Hi to Kevin.

Not many other noteworthy pictures to post today but I love this sign we found in one of the houses we watch.  Thank you Mac and Char for sharing.  This is a great motto for our age.

Diane Nelson from Site 220 sent me this cute cactus photo to share with you.  Now I expect to see some little sombreros popping up around our resort.

I checked the weather forecast this morning.  No more triple digits in the forecast!  Yahoo!  Nights should start to cool down to the upper 60s.  What a welcomed relief!!  We see more and more people showing up. This should be a big weekend coming our way with an influx of travelers.  How exciting!  Have a good day.
