Coffee and Donuts

It's Tuesday morning and time for our weekly coffee and donuts meeting.

It was a bit cool but the air was fresh with plenty of beautiful sunshine so I decided to walk and enjoy the scenery across the golf course path.  The great blue heron was looking for his breakfast.

What a great way to start the day.

These morning sessions are well attended.  We were inside the ballroom this morning due to chilly temps outside.  It is very convenient to use the tables and chairs from the bingo session last night.  It certainly saves some labor and hassle with all the set up.

Our sponsor this morning was SkyMed.  They certainly provide a wonderful service for anyone who travels.  Especially for our RV friends if they should have an accident along the way.  SkyMed is holding a breakfast burrito seminar meeting where you can learn more detail about their services.  Sign up in the activities office.

Marion Nelson was present as always to announce the upcoming events.
  1. There is still time to sign up for the prime rib Christmas dinner.
  2. Tickets are available for New Year's Eve.  Event will run from 7 until midnight.  Midnight??!  Who stays up that late!  We got a laugh when Marion said they will celebrate the new year at 10:00, 11:00 and again at midnight for the few late night owls.
  3. Do to the popular demand for the Garth Brooks show, a second session is now available.  The first originally scheduled show is on February 5 and was sold out in a short time.  In order to arrange a second seating, the only available opportunity was for February 4.  Tickets are still available for that showing.
  4. The response to send items to our troops overseas has been great.  Donations are piling in.  If you have a relative or acquaintance currently serving overseas, turn in the address so a special package can be shipped from Palm Creek.

Whoops..........looks like we have another low pressure system headed our way and it may ruin some plans for an outdoor event on Thanksgiving Day this week.

Bingo

Monday night Bingo

It was a good crowd in spite of a busy Thanksgiving week.

Candy Konz won game 6.  Lil Kryzanowski and Fred Frame shared the blackout game 12.
The big jackpot should go up over $500 next week.

.............AND we had a winner on G55.  Stay tuned for pictures of our luncheon date on Friday!

Fall Festival

It's been another busy week.  The weather kept us entertained as a big WET cold front swept across Arizona.  We had at least 1.4 inches of rain.  That's a remarkable amount for us as we seldom ever get a whole inch in the same storm.  You can see the water pouring off the roof of buildings.

Rain started while we were playing cards so our golf carts got soaked.  If you didn't have towels or cushions, you rode home in wet clothes.

Our Fall Festival was supposed to be held the next day.  How could our super hero Marion Nelson pull off this event with all the rain?  She did it with flying colors.

The next day her crew was out there setting up on the parking lot.  You can see from this photo that Palm Park was still flooded and squishy but no problem on the parking lot.  The sun came out, the temperature rose and we had a beautiful day for the event.

Congratulations to the busy beavers who set up all these tables and chairs in the early morn.

Our General Manager, Scott Houle, and his assistant Gabrielle Gonzales were present to greet us.

Marguarite, our new Sales Manager, and Vicki Wilson our Guest Services Supervisor staffed a welcome booth.

The BIG draw for the day was the wonderful food trucks.  We wandered from one to the other to read their menu and make the huge decision of where to eat first.  FUN.

Don and I personally chose the winner as the guy with the catfish dinners.
DELICIOUS!!

Vendor booths were also present.

Dish had a "spin the wheel" to win a prize.

It was a "beautiful day in the neighborhood".  Great weather, good music from the band, lots of friends, and good food made it a very successful event.

It makes us proud to live in Palm Creek.

Tech news:
I attended an on line seminar with our friends Jim and Chris Guld of Geeks on Tour.  After the seminar, we can chat with "The Geeks" in an on line open discussion using ZOOM.  I picked up lots of new tips and tricks using Google Photos so perhaps we'll see you at computer club to share the news.

I didn't take any photos of the cats this week but they are always with me on my phone:

Roller Derby & our GM in Uniform

When is the last time you watched a roller derby on TV?  It has been quite a few years for us so when we saw this special event advertised on Nextdoor, we bought tickets.  What FUN!  These gals are in excellent shape and obviously train a great deal.

We so enjoyed watching the action that we didn't really remember to take a lot of photos.  They had a good attendance too and have quite a big following.  The bleachers were the best seats.  (Hint:  take along a cushion to sit on.)

This night was just a special event.  Here is the schedule for their real season games.  See you there!

Hey!!  Look who is one of our newest softball players!  Our General Manager, Scott Houle, is an official member of the Vipers softball team and played a double header this week.  Three cheers for our new manager!!

Meatloaf Dinner and Mahjong donation

Our Palm Creek Mahjong club recently made a generous donation to the Valley Humane Society. Thank you to our club members for their support. Pictured: Denise Gaither, Crystal Fox (Shelter Manager), Sue Hepler.

Congratulations to Denise as she made it home without adopting one of the many kittens at the shelter.  They are soooo adorable.

Our General Manager, Scott Houle and his wife, Marguarite (Sales Manager) were on hand to greet and serve us at the recent restaurant style meatloaf dinner.  Food was great as usual.  Thank you to Robin Perry and her staff for excellent service and a delicious meal.

Robin says next month will be a taco dinner.  Yum!

I opened a new bag of cat food and poured it into my container.  It must have smelled like a fresh cup of Folgers to our Kat.

He couldn't resist a quick taste.
