Greenbelt, weeds, cloudy sky, and aluminum cans

New lighting has been installed all along the greenbelt.

Also spotted a bench along the way to rest and enjoy a bit of green space.

The Weed man (our new contractor for weed control) has been busy.  This green spray appeared yesterday which I'm guessing was sprayed around the obstacles of water pipes and electrical boxes.  Then the bigger equipment will be able to spray the more open surface later.

Palm trimming is finished down Oasis.

Clean up crews had big blowers and swept the debris into the street for pick up.

Sometimes we just have to stop and take some pictures of our desert surroundings.
We live in a beautiful resort.

Unfortunately, no rain came from this cloud cover but the contrast from our normal bright blue sky was enjoyable.

MORE RECYCLING NEWS

We always seem to spot Kent Evans out in the early morning cooler temps.  He is on his rounds of collecting aluminum cans from the designated barrels around the park.

There is good money in "them there cans".

Kent and his 5-man team of Urban Miners have voluntarily collected the cans, built their own crushing stations, and daily crush the cans into bales for recycling.  All funds are donated to local charity.

For the 2018-2019 season, this group has donated $4,300 to the Casa Grande Food Bank!  That equates to approximately 220,000 cans!

Multiply that effort for the 12 years this group has been dedicating their time.  Their records show they have donated over $42,000.

Congratulations to the team:

Kent deserves extra praise because he is the only full-time resident so he carries the burden all by himself during our hot summers.

Our 5-day weather forecast.
Still no rain predicted for us.  It's a strange monsoon season.
