Thank you to Kevin Flynn (our General Manager) for the recent letter we received in our mailboxes regarding summer security. AND thank you to the security staff that endlessly drive through the park all night long doing their best to keep our park secure.
Based on feedback from Club groups and individual Residents along with our own safety assessments, we have made the following changes to our AED locations around the Resort
1.The AED at the back of the Tennis Courts has been moved from the shed at the back of the court area up to the Snak Shak at the front of the Tennis area. It is located between the 911 call box and the first aid kit. This will make it much more accessible to anyone who may need it.
2.There is a new AED located on the front porch of the Ocotillo classroom, right across from Sewing. This will serve the increase in classroom activity at the north end of the Street of Dreams. We will also be adding a 911 call box right next to it. It has been ordered, and should be installed in the next week or so.
3.There is another new AED located on the wall to the left of the Landscaping gate, right next to the Woodshop. This will serve the woodshop, landscaping area, car and pet wash area, as well as the various sports activities nearby.
4.All other AED locations remain the same.
Please note: At present, there are no emergency oxygen bottles in the two new kits. They also have been ordered and will be put in the boxes as soon as we receive them.
Amazing Dental has announced that our movie for July 2 at 11:00am will be TAG.
Each person in attendance will receive a goody bag and a gift. If attendance is good, Andrea will offer this again in September. There are still 62 tickets left so stir up your neighbors and friends and bring them along to support the event. Deadline is this Friday (June 29) as the theater needs a headcount for the gifts.
Casa Grande made news yesterday with a big fire at an industrial site on the west side of town. No details available yet because local paper isn't published on Mondays. The smoke was visibly seen from our house but under control very quickly. Thank you to our devoted fire department!
Bring a dish to share and your beverage. Paper plates, napkins and tableware will be provided. Please sign up a Guest Services and indicate what dish you are bringing. We'd love to have some fried chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, ribs, potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, watermelon, apple pie, cherry pie, homemade ice cream,, etc.

This photo looks a lot different than the two posted earlier this week as all the palms in the area have been trimmed. There are tons and tons of leaves and debris removed from the trees every year.
Maverick went up for a bird's eye view this morning.
I don't have any exciting news to report as other than our afternoon card games, Tapas Tuesdays, and Saturday night bingo .... it's pretty quiet around here. Thought I would share some random pictures of the Heplers as we go about our house watch chores this past week.
The worst part of the job is fixing and maintaining the many irrigation issues that arise. Sometimes there's not enough water....sometimes too much. These underground timers are the worst! Just getting down there is hard enough but this brand of timer is very complicated.
I water these potted cactus plants............when mama dove isn't perched on the nest she builds there every year.
We get silly with all the photos we take.
Many many nesting doves.
Underground hoses spring a leak. This requires Mr. Maldonado's tender care.
Another one of the dreaded timers.
In the early morning, it is actually cooler outside than it is inside houses. Inside doesn't cool down very much when the AC is set at 90.
Always water pails to rinse and refill.
RVs and 5th wheels have water buckets too.
I like it when folks leave a scrub brush to get the heavy water deposits.
Sprinkler heads have a way of popping off and need replaced.
Very uncomfortable places to work for my poor hubby.
Another underground hose with a break in the line.

It was a quiet afternoon so thought I'd play some computer games.
June 16 -- one day before monsoon season officially starts and we had rain for the first time in over 100 days. It was funny to listen to the meteorologists get excited about "potential" rainfall headed our way. Yes, we can say it rained here but it wasn't even a measurable amount in our rain gauge. There was a promising cloudy sky for the first time in months.
Today we are back to our normal clear brilliant blue sky.
It is a gorgeous morning at a cool 74 degrees with a light breeze. Love it!!
The palm trees have had a very healthy year as evidenced by their thick foliage and heavy blossoms. I'll be glad when the landscape crew gets to our trees for trimming as all those flower petals come down like white snow. We call it Arizona snow.
I don't have a strong telescopic lens for my cell phone camera but all the little black dots you see amid the blossoms are bees. Every tree is loaded with them. You can actually hear them buzzing under each tree.
While we had our "rain storm" yesterday, I saw a dove flapping around in the street. At first I thought it was injured but further observation proves he was just taking a shower and enjoying the cooling rain.
Watch the dove in this little video. He was loving it. LOL
Every Saturday night, folks gather in the Adobe room for an evening of card bingo. There were 42 players who showed up last night. They waved to say hello.
Thank you to Avis Gray for hosting Saturday night bingo and helping to keep us summer folks entertained.
That's all the news for today. Looks like a beautiful week ahead.
We'll definitely be enjoying morning coffee out on the patio! Early morning Pickleball players and golfers will have perfect weather.
Just for fun while enjoying this morning's coffee, I looked back on the blog to June of last year. It is incredible to see how much has been done here at Palm Creek in that year's time!
A huge ballroom expansion.
A new pro shop.
A Bistro expansion.
......and a HUGE new neighborhood development!
Hats off to Sun Communities and the entire staff that made all this possible in just one year's time.
We've had a lovely spring so far this year. Here is a weather report from June of last year when all this work was being completed. It was a HOT record breaking summer. They worked day after day through 110+ heat.
On a lighter note.........our little Mouse is celebrating his one year anniversary of adoption. He weighed 1 1/4 pounds when we brought him home.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MOUSE!!!

It was HOT already at 5:03 in the morning yesterday! Too warm to have coffee out on the patio. Monsoon season officially starts June 17. It will be interesting to see what Mother Nature brings us this summer.
Movie night in the Santan Room brought out quite a few residents.
Most of us were there for the ice cream treat before the movie. They even had Ashley's husband there to assist with Sundae preparation.
Folks were having fun even while waiting in line.

Be prepared for a shocker!!
A mama scorpion tried crawling under a door to get in a house when she still had babies clutching to her back. She not only got stuck on a glue pad but so did a myriad of her babies. Glad the whole crew didn't get past the guard. Yikes!!

Kat and Mouse love the challenge to get a treat....especially if they're on the other side of the door.
Watch how Kat managed to get the last treat that was just out of reach for Mouse.
