Fireman's Spaghetti Dinner

The annual Fireman's Spaghetti Dinner

Lynn Reiter wrote such a nice recap of the evening that I will just copy her note here.  Thank you, Lynn.

Extraordinary ‘400 Strong’ Fireman’s Spaghetti Dinner!
Yes, Robin and her amazing  kitchen staff cooked for 400 Creekers! Marion and her crew, plus Fireman and Explorers managed to get us all served hot delicious dinners, salad, hot rolls and a delicious cheese cake dessert in short order! They worked like a well oiled machine! Even more incredible, our wonderful GM, Scott Houle, and his wife, Sales Manager, Marguarite, were a part of the hard working team! Thanks to the Houles this Resort is truly a winter Paradise!
***I used to think that posting photos of a crowd weren't exciting but so many people say they love scanning the pictures to find familiar faces. Sooooo.......will keep posting.

It was heart warming to see the long line of people waiting to buy raffle tickets from the firefighters as folks knew this was how to make a contribution.

Sandy Foulks got some good photos of the fire crews. Thank you, Sandy. The red shirts are worn by young cadets in training.

Mouse is lost!!!

Mouse is gone!

OMG!!   Mouse is out in the cold somewhere!  I didn't pull the door shut all the way and Mouse has escaped.  Can't find him anywhere.  We almost had him cornered at the neighbor's but he is very skittish.  If you spot him, please let me know.  Don't know how we'll ever catch him.  Large gray cat with white face, feet, and tummy.  Call Don or Sue Hepler, Site 1707.  Sue 937-408-7479   Don 937-408-5221

Upcoming Events & Drone over Sports Complex

Don took the drone up this morning for a quick tour over the sports complex.  The area is well used and very popular!

Our Tuesday morning coffee session was full of information with the upcoming Fireman's spaghetti dinner, welcome back party, and the cancer awareness weekend.

JD introduced one of our newest sponsors called Wildcats Express Transportation.  Greg introduced his services.  They offer transportation to and from the Phoenix and Tucson airports with pick up at your door.  Visit their website at http://wildcatsxpress.com/

Our big Cancer Awareness weekend is fast approaching on January 31.  There will be many events to support the cause including a golf tournament, rubber ducky race, flamingo flocking program, etc.  There will be 9 big hot air balloons present and, of course, the huge luminary display.  This is a weekend where many volunteers will be needed.  See the sign up sheets in the Activities Office.

The activities calendar says there is a patio sale this Saturday, January 18.  Time to clean out the closet and storage space?

Even though I am an avid Android user, I still attended the iPhone class presented by John Winston on Monday morning.   John does an excellent job of presenting and teaching.  Monday's topic was Google Maps.  The class has a huge following and the room was packed with eager students.

I came across a few more Casino night photos compliments of Sandy Foulks.

Casino Night

Casino Night was another FUN event.  It started with another of Robin's delicious meals.  Yummy shrimp basket.

After eating, we could proceed to the SanTan room for some gambling.   We received a wrist band at the door to show that we had tickets for the casino.

A cash bar was available.  LOL....no cute little cocktail waitresses in skimpy costumes though.
Marion Nelson and her special events team did an outstanding job with all the set up and take down throughout the day with the Club Expo this morning and then this big event the same night.

We were each given a chip worth $500 in casino funds to use for gambling.

We could play Blackjack, Texas Hold'em, or head to the Roulette table.

Some of our local residents volunteered as dealers......and they were the most fun!

At the end of the evening, IF we had any chips left, we cashed out at the door in exchange for a ticket to drop in the drum to be used for a drawing for prizes.  The more chips you cashed, the more ticket entries you received.  Winners will be announced sometime today.

After gambling, we headed over to the ballroom for a nice dance with music provided by the popular Spotlight Band.

ANOTHER ENTERTAINING EVENT AT PALM CREEK!!

We've also enjoyed a brilliant bright full moon this week.
Pretty good shot using just a cell phone!

After such a long busy day, Don recovered in his easy chair with two cats for comfort.

Club Expo

Today was a "first" for the Club Expo event and it was a definite success!  Over 30 clubs set up display tables in the ballroom to advertise their club and activities.  It was a great way to advertise our activities and make residents aware of all we had to offer.

A panorama shot of the busy ballroom

It was a BUSY and noisy place due to the traffic of curious visitors.

The Club Expo provided an excellent opportunity for the Freedom RV display.  Eric was happy as he sold several RVs during the weekend.  We thank Freedom RV for being a great sponsor.  They also provide donuts for the Tuesday morning meetings and give nice door prizes.

Jones Auto was also successful as they sold a new car this weekend during the event.
