Interesting Day in History

My Google Photos app occasionally brings up a "history" of photos from years past.  Today was quite interesting so thought I would share it here.

July 2017 -- Ballroom expansion

2017  Constructing underground work for the new "North 40" expansion.  It was interesting to see the different layers for the different systems.  sewer...water...electric, etc.

July 17, 2015 Tractor Supply was being built.

July 2013  The Bistro patio was just getting started.

July 2012 -- An open field to be turned into pickleball courts and a softball field.

July 17, 2009  Monsoon Dust Storm - View from our patio.

A few homes were damaged during this storm.

July 2007 same type of storm.

Luckily, we haven't had any nasty storms like this in quite a while.  Maybe with the territory getting built up, there's not as much dust to blow our way.  ??
News Flash:  I wasn't at the Tuesday morning coffee this week, but I was told that Gabby was there and announced that Sun is not going to trim the palm trees this year.  😶

July

Wow....I just received an anonymous "Buy me a Coffee" donation and a nice note from the donor saying how much they enjoy reading about the summer activities while they are away for the summer.  OUCH!  Now I feel guilty for not posting more often.  It's easy to get out of the habit.

Our temperatures have been over 105 and sometimes over 110 every day for the last few weeks.  Yes, it is definitely HOT outside.  We desert rats manage to survive quite well however.  We just move from our air-conditioned homes to air-conditioned cars, to air-conditioned stores or other business dressed very light and casual.  I can truly say that I prefer this type of climate rather than icy cold with snow and ice and layers of warm clothing.  Somehow, the folks who work outdoors manage to do quite well.  They must adapt to survive out there.  I salute them for their strength....landscapers, delivery personnel, construction workers, etc.

Our Activities Dept. (only Niki and Greg during the summer) continue to hold some fun events each week.  They hold a weekly little bingo game, movie days, and some card games like 3-13, Yahtzee, corn hole tournaments, etc.  They have fun events to help pass the warm afternoons.  It is definitely COOL indoors as the AC is kept at 72-76 degrees in all the rooms.  LOL....many folks bring jackets or sweaters to avoid it being too cold.

Work continues around the park.  Our landscapers are still out mowing grass, maintaining the golf greens, trimming bushes and trees, weeding the flower beds, working on sprinkler systems, etc.  The north pool has been completely redone and looks very nice.  In the next week or so, it will be closed again for a few days while they install new "cool deck" around the edges.  This is a special concrete that doesn't get so HOT in the sunshine.  The July newsletter tells us that the floor in the billiards room and the fitness center will be replaced also.  I'll try to get some photos for you.

Another event of note is the huge "craft fair" held at the Promenade mall each Saturday (indoors at the old Sports Authority store).  There are over 100 vendors each week including several food trucks.  There are some nice tables inside the cool air conditioning where you can come eat indoors.  I'll attach a short video as we scanned around the room.

I hope your summer is going well.  Enjoy!
Here's a friendly hello from Scooter.  😃

Kat is too big to fit under the bathroom door like he could as a kitten.

Our living room gets a little crowded when we bring out Scooter's favorite toy.

By the way....Dan Mayer still updates the Palm Creek Info site with the latest menu and newsletters:  Palm Creek Info
