The game of Cornhole is gaining popularity.  I see casual games being held at several happy hours during season.  We now have several games and variations available to us in Ballroom 3 for the summer.  Invite a neighbor and go up to play in the nice air-conditioned building!

We've received several requests for another cellphone class.  We'll meet on Saturday morning, June 8, in the SanTan Room, 9:30 a.m. for a short session on extra things our watch and phone can do for us....plus an introduction to the new AI app called CoPilot that is receiving so much attention.

New employees should be able to find new homes or apartments with all the construction in the area!  We're amazed at the number of home communities being built...both homes and apartment complexes.

Palm trees are sending out their flowering stalks.  Looks like it will be a good year.  This tree already has one open branch.  Honey bees will be very busy soon. 

It's easy to spot the spikes as they appear on every tree.

Here's a close up of the palm spikes and a short tour around the empty park.  It was always fun to post these as folks loved a fly over of their home.  Too bad we can't do that anymore and the drone just takes up space in the cupboard.  Sun Communities says "no drones" over the park anymore.  Sad.

Scooter Update:

Today was Scooter's first entrance to the outdoor cat condo.  He was very leery about going out and looking down at the far drop off at the end of the shelf.  He managed just fine.  

We started to wonder how we would ever get him back in the house again.  LOL....no fear.  He figured it out all by himself and so fast that I didn't get many pictures.

 Hallelujah!  I think we've done it!  We managed to purchase a program that will allow me to email over 500 subscribers at a time.  It has taken me extensive research to find the right company and then to set up the techie part of the program and make it work.  Whew!!

I've now added another program which allows readers to contribute $ to offset the cost.  Your donations are deeply appreciated.  I'd rather do this than charge a subscription fee so donations are entirely voluntary.

We've had a very quiet house without Mouse to keep us entertained.  The void he left was too great so we made a trip to the Valley Humane Society.  Say Hello to Scooter!!  

He's already willing to help at the computer.  😉

He earns the name by the way he travels through the house and scoots from one chair to another.  He's adorable!!  He's only 8 weeks old and already fully litter trained.  Kat tolerates the little guy and is just  mildly annoyed when Scooter attacks his tail.

MOUSE

 It's a sad day at the Hepler home.  We had to say Goodbye to our beloved cat "Mouse" today.  He has been in and out of the Animal Hospital for the last couple weeks and although we administered IVs and numerous meds, the poor little guy was in pain.  It wasn't fair to let him suffer so Don made one more trip to the hospital with him.  SAD!!  I know all you pet owners understand the grief of losing a loved pet as they certainly become part of the family.

Thank you, dear Mouse, for six wonderful years.

 Gery Manthos, our Regional VP from Sun Communities, is now on Nextdoor to comment and make announcements.  I'll copy his notes here for those who aren't enrolled.

FROM GERY: Just a quick update… the newspapers have been ordered. Arizona Republic (2 copies daily) and a USA Today (1 copy) will start this week. I am not sure if exact time frame on the AZ Republic but I have confirmed that USA Today will start delivery on Thu this week. Weedco will be out starting Monday 13th to do their initial end of season spray property wide. This will be the first step in our quest to ensure that all weeds property wide are eradicated for good. We have engaged Brightview Landscaping services to trim the palm trees. I am not sure on the exact date but, I do know it will be shortly… once an exact date is known I’ll post it here. The solar power will be finally connected to the Palm Creek grid on May 21st (I believe) and will bring that project to its final conclusion. We have also confirmed that the main pool and spa tub will be resurfaced starting right after Memorial Day weekend. When I have additional updates I will post them for you. There are numerous other projects in the works as soon as I have information I’ll let everyone know. Thank you all for your support and I hope everyone is having a great evening!

Just to clarify a few points as well. ALL of these projects and or "changes" have been initiated by Gabby and her team. I simply support that team and figured the best way to assist was to get onto this site (as I was on it previously for my local neighborhood in FL) and let everyone know what is going on! I don't think we can communicate ENOUGH... and it seems as if the biggest challenge we have at the resort is effectively letting everyone know what is going on. Nextdoor is simply ONE channel we have, and with the vast number of residents here I figured it would be the quickest way to get the information out. That said we are and will put out info into the mailboxes, emails, texts, etc... the idea to be able to communicate with you in the matter you prefer!

This beautiful trophy for winning first place at the Boat Regatta now resides at Dusty and Sandi Brown's residence. It was a GREAT event and we're all looking forward to even more next year. This is a traveling trophy so will pass along to the winner each year. Again, we congratulate Dusty, Karen, and their crew. You can stop by the ballroom to see all the boats on display.

The solar power project is coming to fruition. Signs are posted in all areas while the conversion is made. Card players note that the game rooms are scheduled for Thursday, May 16.

Our flower beds certainly look bare. I'm hoping we get summer flowers again this year. Will watch for more.

 Today (May 6) was opening day of our Three Palms Cafe.  We congratulate the Magic Duo of Chef and Bridgette as they were the only two people on kitchen duty today.  We are so VERY happy to have our plentiful salad bar back again!

For now, the Cafe is open Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Baked goods and coffee will be available starting at 8 along with some "grab and go" items.  Starting at 10 until 1:30, the salad bar will be available.  Wednesday specials will be available starting on the 17th.  

The ballroom should prove popular this summer when our HOT temperatures fall upon us.  In addition to a delightful lunch in Ballroom 1, Ballroom 2 is set up in theater style.  Today there was a series of Carol Burnette shows so we stopped by to watch for a while.  On Mondays you can stop by for Monday night sports at 6:00 to watch whatever big game is showing.

Did you miss the First Annual Boat Regatta?  The vessels are proudly on display in Ballroom 2.

Ballroom 3 is like a kid's play palace.  There are a number of corn hole games, plus a variety of other entertainment.  Maybe we can set up some competitive events.
