Paint, Bees, Landscape, Mouse

Painting has started up again and we're staying with the white color.  Give it a chance.  It should look pretty good when done with some finishing touches.  Here's an artist rendition of before and after of the main mailbox station.

Lots of taping and spraying between the buildings.  

Our landscapers planted some nice vinca flowers in the entrance way.  Looks nice and will get even nicer as they grow.  Vincas love the summer heat.

Don and I are still fascinated by the number of bees up in the palm trees.  Thousands in every tree.  They don't bother anybody down on the ground as they're too busy with their pollinating work.  We sent up the drone for a closer look this morning.

Videos are much better if you watch them on a bigger screen.  Use your computer or broadcast to your TV.

Tom Gottfried sent some info regarding a workshop being held at the Avocado Nursery this weekend.  Tom and Bev are creating a lovely rock garden with many kinds of succulent plants in front of their house.  

I stopped by the Avocado Nursery today to make arrangements for the next installment of the rock garden.  Phil told me he is doing an irrigation workshop at the nursery next Sat.  6/20, 9 AM.  They meet under a big shade tree in front of the nursery.

They will be covering 

1. Types of economical timers
2. Poly as opposed to PVC systems
3. Modern emitters
4. Garden irrigation designs
5. Irrigation for orchards, tropical, & cactus gardens

This could be helpful for those who have or plan on installing an irrigation system.  The workshop is free of charge.

He is located on Overfield Rd just north of McCartney which is just south of the university on the east side of the road.

Happy Adoption Day for Mouse!

Three years ago today, Mouse moved into our home from the Valley Humane Society.  

He has won a place in our hearts even when he's a bit of a pest.

Newsy Stuff

Evidently there is a lot of activity at Corporate regarding Palm Creek.  We're getting tidbits of information so speculation abounds about what it all means and how it will affect us.  This letter came in email to all residents this past week.  There's also a short video showing a new logo but it includes some very old photos so its a bit confusing as to how "new" things will be.   I posted a link below.  A new name change??

Painting of the buildings and the white color is on hold so we're all waiting to get the "newest news".

The Best Western hotel on the corner of Henness and Florence is creeping along.

It's fun to watch all the palm trees as they burst into bloom.  They're just loaded with blossoms and bees.  I'm trying to investigate more about the bees.  Stay tuned.

It continues to be a lovely surprise when we come across fresh cactus blossoms.

While we get to enjoy fresh flowers and lots of sunshine......I certainly feel sorry for our friends in Alberta just south of Calgary.  Pat LaFleur sent me these photos this morning.  WOW!!  Lots of damage from a hail storm!

Looks like it stripped paint right off the buildings.

While Alberta suffers, we're still enjoying our lovely mornings (before the heat comes).  Golfers love the cool mornings with lots of sunshine.

There are no afternoon activities, however unless they're indoors in the air conditioning.

While Kat enjoys the morning out on the patio with us, he prefers his daytime indoors just like the rest of us.

Three cheers for our General Manager, Scott Houle, as he and the crew go out to spread cheer among the residents.

Their ice cream truck venture was a fun success.  Unfortunately, I missed their event so copied pictures from FaceBook.  Thank you to Gabby and Ashley too.

Another fun note we found posted on the side of Site 1269.  Cute!!

All varieties of Arizona plants seem to blossom differently.  Look at this fella in all his glory.  Fun to observe.

Thank you to the residents at 1269 for the nice appearance of their corner site.

Wow!  Even from a distance, the palm trees look much better with their fresh haircut.  Crews got a lot done in palm park already.

Don and I spotted this roadrunner this morning.  Love seeing them RUN around our resort.

OMG.......it was freezing cold outside this morning.  Only 60 degrees!!  Went outside for our morning coffee but I came back in for a jacket.  Don went back in immediately as he's cold if it drops below 80.  I saw a post on Facebook from Linda Steward in Colorado where it was snowing!  Talk about strange weather.  

After today it looks like our weatherman might as well take a vacation.  Same story every day.

Those low forecasted temperatures look delightful, however.  Morning patio time will be a treat.

RENTAL INFORMATION

I noticed as we ride around the park that a couple rental houses are occupied so wrote to Tami Deeks for some information.  I understand there is usually a waiting list to get a rental during peak season.  

Palm Creek owns 86 rental units and is taken care of my our housekeeping staff on site.  We have 5 permanent housekeepers for year around and additional 7 are added during October through March.    

We currently have 25 of the rentals rented at this time.  Most renters on site are here anywhere from 1 month to 6 months and typically travel to the area to work or some are waiting for homes to be built. 

Room openings, tree trim

I've seen a number of messages on Nextdoor about our rooms and activities opening up and thought you may be interested.

First is the sewing room.  They held a meeting on Saturday to discuss how they would be working in compliance.  About thirty (30) people showed up for the meeting.  Wow!  Everyone spread out to comply with social distancing so it was hard to get a group photo.  (Thank you to Sandra Marsters for providing pictures.)

A letter was distributed in mailboxes this week.

Palm tree blooming.  Hummer still on guard.

The tree contractor started today in the huge date palms up at the front office.  It's quite windy so was surprised to see them climb up so high.

You can see that the trees look pretty messy at this time of year.  They'll all get a good trimming sometime within the next month.
