Street Sealing, Weed Control, and Thank You to Sewing Guild

STREET SEALING:  (from Gary Lambert)

Next week you will receive a flyer in your mailbox detailing street sealing work that will take place on May 4th and 5th. This is work that was deferred from December due to inclement weather, and has already been paid for. We elected not to try to do street work during January through April due to the sheer volume of traffic, so it is now time to get this completed. Given the recent temporary reductions in staffing, we did not want anyone to think that we were spending new money on work of this nature.

Thank you for your understanding.

The Facilities Team.

WEED CONTROL:   (from Mark Kenner)

Weedco was here last month and sprayed all of Henness Road and all golf course curbing up to the resident property lines. This will last for 6 months. They will be here in May and June and will spray all of the 2375 resident sites which will last for 1 year. They will be back in September to spray Henness Road and golf course curbing again. In the meantime our crew is weeding for the 1st 2 hours of every day. We are doing the best we can. Mark

THANKS AGAIN TO THE SEWING GUILD:

Not everyone lots onto Nextdoor so wanted to be sure this message gets circulated.

Donations to Food Banks and Soup Kitchens

I truly don't know how to start this and do it justice. Please bear with me and I will try. Today was an amazing day to say the least. I was getting ready to take my second truck load of donations down to the CG food bank/soup kitchen from the people of Palm Creek, when I heard someone at my door. There was Kary Rowland from the ladies sewing group with a very huge cash donation. I was so overwhelmed by the generosity of this group that has been working so hard to provide everyone with masks, and then go above and beyond with this kindness of love. Ladies you are all angels. From the bottom of my heart Thank You So Very Much and God Bless.

Kary Rowland
The PC Sewing & Quilt Guild has been keeping their hands busy making masks for Banner Hospital & ER and many other care related facilities here in Casa Grande. They’ve also made masks for their families, friends and care facilities back in their home States and Provence’s. Last Thursday those guild members still left here in the Park wanted to make masks for Palm Creekers. By 3:30 Thursday afternoon I had over a 100 masks to pass out to those that saw my post on Nextdoor and came by my site. Our residents here are so generous they gave a donation when they got a 😷 mask. The ladies of the guild wanted the donations to go where the need is the greatest. Thank You Palm Creekers. Big hugs to all my Guild Members and a huge Thank You for your gifts of sewing and sharing. You are all simply amazing.

New Information from Food Truck

We just received word that Philly-Up’s fish and chips dinner for Wednesday night will be 2 pieces of cod (instead of 3).  Also, pre-order capability will be available starting Tuesday at noon on the following website:  www.mkt.com/phillyup.  This system has been used successfully at other locations and is different from last week’s system that had several glitches.

I just placed my order on the website listed above and received a confirmation almost immediately.  20% tip was automatically added.

North Gate Closure

Announcement from Gary Lambert, Palm Creek Operations Manager:

Due to some temporary staffing reductions brought about by the current Worldwide Covid-19 pandemic, We will be closing the North Gate effective tomorrow, April 14th. Residents will still be able to exit the resort onto Cottonwood Rd. as per normal, but the inbound gate will be closed until further notice.

My apologies for the short notice, but we just found about this a couple of hours ago.

Birds, Parade, Masks and Cats

Pat LaFleur sent me a cute photo today.  She said Dennis was determined that they were going to spend a lovely evening around their fire pit.  Way to go, Dennis!  That's quite a task since he is in the deep snows of Alberta.

Dave Porterfield sent me these great hummingbird pictures.  They were able to witness Mom bringing food to her young one.

Here are the proud "grandparents" leaning over their patio railing to watch the action.

Don't forget the Easter parade scheduled for this Sunday!  Let's show our support for this precious day on the calendar.  If you choose not to ride your cart in the parade, be out on the street to wave and cheer them on.

Line up near the ballroom entrance at 9:30 this Sunday to make a 'Victory Lap' through the Park.      If you can't join us, won't you wave as we go by?

Every year the Koch grandkids came for a visit and would leave cute chalk drawings on Grandma's driveway as a loving reminder of their visit.  This picture is from 2019:

Unfortunately due to the current Virus issue, their visit was unavoidably canceled.  As a loving memory, the kids sketched their drawing at home and sent a photo to the Kochs here in Palm Creek.  Kathleen thoughtfully recreated their drawing on the driveway herself and sent them a return photo showing what she had done.

I thought it was a great story to share.  Stop by 1017 to see for yourself.

Meanwhile our PC Angels, aka Sewing Ladies, are still making and handing out face masks.  Bless them one and all.

Have you looked up into our clear blue sky lately?  Have you noticed that there are VERY FEW jet contrails?  Our airlines have truly dwindled during the pandemic.  The sky would normally be criss crossed with trails headed to Vegas, Phoenix or points beyond.

Readers are reminding me that I haven't posted any cat photos for a while so here you go.  Mouse loves to find a nice quiet place to hide.

Be it Don's dresser drawer:

or any thing that resembles a box.

You ALL have a great day and STAY SAFE!!
