Something BIG is about to happen

Something BIG is about to happen around here.  All the tell tale signs of big construction are appearing in force but the whole staff is tight lipped and secretive.  I've begged for information but even my best sources say their lips are sealed.  Acckkkkk..........I hate suspense!

Here's my evidence thus far.

The north gate is open for truck traffic....and that ONLY happens for construction during the summer months.

(Nice crop growing across the street.)

They've erected a big water tank near the north gate and there were two water trucks loading up this morning.

Look at the big graders and tractors that have been brought in.

The intersection on Cole Circle near the big agility park is fenced off.

Maybe they're just adding a couple more streets.  We can see the survey flags all staked out.

Here they're moving dirt to extend the berm along Granite Drive.  I imagine they'll be planting more oleanders along there like they did at the north end of the street.

I DO know that more homes are being constructed throughout the park and there is a desperate need for more rental units.  I stopped taking photos of the new houses as they come in because it just seems like old news.

Stay tuned to the blog though as I'll get somebody to talk pretty soon.  They're obviously waiting for something....either a final approval....or waiting for corporate to make a big news flash.  I feel like a paparazzi already....searching for photos and news tidbits.

At least the weatherman is reliable.  I've started taking photos of the weather report off the television.  The high def photos turn out nicely.

We're finally cooling down a bit as we've been over 110 for a while.  Whew!

As of June 15, we are officially in the monsoon season.  We're being cautioned about potential dust storms and haboobs.

Bingo

We had a great night at bingo last week.  My cell phone had gone dead so MaryAnn took some photos for me.  We're still surprised at the large number of residents who show up at the events.  These are big crowds for our summer months.

Dabbers up!!

Yup....that's me at the caller's desk.  G55 is still my magical number.

Trimming the palms is still a daily occurrence.

Lillie Corbitt sent me this photo showing three climbers way up top with chainsaws in hand.  I wonder how you train for this kind of job.  If those trees get any taller, they'll start wearing parachutes

I got a charge out of this plastic owl mounted to scare away the doves.  I don't think it works as now it appears that the owl is guarding the dove nest for her.

Here's a nice photo of our hot broiling sun as it slinks down below the horizon.  I'm surprised it didn't melt Suzette's camera when she took this photo.

HOT!!!

If you watch the national weather, they're probably talking about our extreme heat wave.  The sun means business when it comes up in full color like this.  (photo donated by Suzette Taylor)

I took a couple pictures from our TV during tonight's weather.  Previous record for 114 was back in 1896.

Here is our 7-day forecast.

So what does one do when it's this hot outside?  You go to the movies, of course.  Don and I chose to go to the early show this morning to beat the crowd.  We figured if we came in the afternoon, this Jurassic movie would be jammed with kids.

The mall was very quiet at 9:30 in the morning.

Here we are......all by ourselves.  There were at least a dozen folks there by the time the show started.

We stopped at Chick-Fil-A for lunch.  While going through the drive through, I took a quick photo of the new Buffalo Wild Wings bar and restaurant that is under construction.  It is located right behind the In & Out Burger joint.

Wow.....look at the nice new lighting that is going in along the sidewalk through the golf course.  Very nice!!

In the afternoon, it's time for cards or Mahjong.

Our card tables are tucked into the old storage room while the rest of Bldg B is getting its facelift.

Happy Birthday to Bob Fahrenbruch

Today was Sunday so Building B was quiet for a change when we went up to play our Sunday Pegs and Jokers game.  We gave ourselves a guided tour to check out the progress.

The little storage room at the back of the Adobe Room is nearing completion.  Just have to finish the crown molding and chair rail.  Nice colors!

When this room is done, the crew will move a couple poker tables and card tables in this room and this will be where we'll play cards for a few weeks until the big room is completed.

We had fun on our tour.

Later this afternoon we attended a birthday party for Bob Fahrenbruch.  Happy #75 to Bob!!

Bob and his wife Sheriann are busy bees during season as they work at the sports grill and help out at other events around the park.

Here's our 10 day forecast for summer temperatures.  Whew!
